I would be interested in one of the real $100s!

Black $500 error chip is pretty sweet!

Is there a reliable way to tell the difference between an authentic Chesterfield movie chip and a CPC reproduction?

If they are on the Roman mold, they are movie props. The mold was worn out before David Spragg started making the replicas for widespread purchase.
Did you reads the thread I shared? There's some debate about that.

I did, but the info in the other thread state all the info you need to know. Adam Savage made a set on the Roman mold but with a backwards bear. The only other properly oriented bears were colored.

A grayscale bear facing left on the Roman mold were props or some leftovers that Jim Blanchard had that he sold after he sold ASM. It's possible these are from Jim (my $1 was from him). Those were made in the same batch/lot as the props. The discourse in that thread pretty much covers this.

My money would be that these chips are either props, or they are from the "leftovers" that David or Jim sold, including the incorrect inlays.

Pretty interesting. The error chips, the inlay does not flip. The other chips including the chesterfield ones flip the inlay.

All the error chips (I have seen several) never flip the inlay. The real movie prop chips (that are not errors) always flip the inlay. I had 20 of them and they were all the same.
