In Yellowknife, NWT they have these little lighthouses that forecast the Aurora intensity. Super cool.
Only problem is they won't see it as well as us that are more southerly. Sunset is now at 10:15 and it won't get much darker than late twilight now anyways.
Hahaa - develop for me is mostly upload in Lightroom, check and export ; )
Glad i‘ve seen one in person!
It could only be topped by icefishing at the same time.
The all-sky cameras at the observatories around here, including the one I work at, have all showed aurora since sundown until now (roughly local midnight). A few friends and I popped outside at our local inebretorium after it was dark and despite the parking lot lights, I was able to see a hint of pink in the sky overhead and that the sky was definitely not the normal "night sky" I'm used to seeing.
Two co-workers sent photos with their phones from up on the mountain and both had definite pink auroras (not posting those as I don't have their OK's yet).
There‘s one flare after another…
Our star goes crazy!
More Auroras announced next day(s) and now smaller impacts result in a fancy lightshow.
This G5 storm was huge and close to a problem, but for now it‘s just a damn cool experience!
