Heads up if you are that far north @AK Chip

In Yellowknife, NWT they have these little lighthouses that forecast the Aurora intensity. Super cool.

Only problem is they won't see it as well as us that are more southerly. Sunset is now at 10:15 and it won't get much darker than late twilight now anyways.

And it says ‚normal‘ for tonight???
If this is a today‘s pic, it needs a service!

Timing is very short for most, depends when it‘s peak. But this one you‘ll see way down south!

I‘m deeply impressed by this firework!
This was awesome and here in CH i never tought i see one.
Can‘t sleep now i have to develop these pics…

Hahaa - develop for me is mostly upload in Lightroom, check and export ; )
Glad i‘ve seen one in person!
It could only be topped by icefishing at the same time.

Quite a sight.

The all-sky cameras at the observatories around here, including the one I work at, have all showed aurora since sundown until now (roughly local midnight). A few friends and I popped outside at our local inebretorium after it was dark and despite the parking lot lights, I was able to see a hint of pink in the sky overhead and that the sky was definitely not the normal "night sky" I'm used to seeing.

Two co-workers sent photos with their phones from up on the mountain and both had definite pink auroras (not posting those as I don't have their OK's yet).

Only the second time I've seen them from here.

I saw a pink hue last night. I wish I was in a darker area but I am pretty stoked that I got to see it!

There‘s one flare after another…
Our star goes crazy!
More Auroras announced next day(s) and now smaller impacts result in a fancy lightshow.
This G5 storm was huge and close to a problem, but for now it‘s just a damn cool experience!

Hope for clear sky tonight too!

There was more Aurora last night at my house in suburban Minneapolis vs. the Iceland and Alaska meetups.combined.

I’m charging the camera batteries for tonight’s show. iPhone camera with longer exposure doesn’t do it justice.

Just after sunset it slowed down to G2/3. Not enough to see northern lights here…
