The ATLARGE poker tournaments are being held this year at the Trop in AC, from April 16-19. The final event, on Sunday, is pot limit Dramaha. Have any of you played this game before? If so, was the draw limited, and to how many cards? Any horror stories?

From the ATLARGE Web site (atlargepoker.com):

PLD (Pot Limit Dramaha*) [pending Casino Commission Approval]

* Dramaha is a combination of 5-card PLO high, and 5-card draw high. The game is 6-max, with a button and blinds, and betting is pot-limit. Players are dealt 5 cards face down, and there is a first round of betting. The dealer then spreads the flop, and there is a second round of betting. Then, remaining players, in order from earliest to latest position, declare how many cards they are drawing, and puts their discards forward (in the same fashion as any other draw game). At this time, the dealer burns, deals new cards to each player, and then places a turn card on the board. This is followed by the third betting round, the dealing of the river card, and the fourth and final betting round. At showdown, half the pot is awarded to the highest PLO hand, using precisely two cards from each player's hand and three from the board. The other half of the pot is awarded to the highest 5-card draw hand, using all five cards in each player's hand.

I have never heard of this mix, but Ill be the first to say it. THIS SOUNDS AWESOME

I'm pretty sure this game was in the mix at DCS this year. It sounded like it was quite the hit from the folks that were playing it.

Curious, is the maximum exchange for the draw phase 3 cards? If not you could run out at 6 players

5 cards on deal for six players = 30 cards
5 cards for board = 35
3 cards for six players = 53

Hell even at 3 cards you can exhaust the whole deck

agreed sounds amazing - i may make my first trip to ATLARGE. any other PCF/CTers come to these things, Larry?

was just reading the website and i saw they disparaged the fine AC "international" airport as "brutally expensive." i have to say, i fly my mom up from atlanta often and the round trip price from AC to ATL for ATLARGE (thurs-sun) is $166 total. can't really find much better than that. yeah, okay, AC and ATL are Spirit hubs. but the AC airport is about as large as the average 7-11 and has equivalent security. plus, parking is approximately a hundred feet from the front door. basically, it's a cream dream.

i'm the marketing director for AC international airport and i approve this message.

It was played the first night. From what I heard, players liked it, dealers hated it. ;)

Dramaha was played, I can say with confidence it was not universally adored. Took forever to play an orbit and complaints of too frequent coolers.

Can't say that's too shocking given the number of cards cycling through each hand. The drawing potential for the flopped portion is absolutely enormous

Not that I know of. A couple of guys from my DC home game have become regulars, but fish72 didn't make it during his DC years.

That Spirit ATL - AC connection sounds interesting. I may have to look into flights from here to ATL.

I've played it in my home game, and most of the guys I play with like it. It makes for interesting decisions. You might think you have an idea what people are doing based on their draw, but it's pretty hard to peg it. It does take awhile to play a hand, though, and you have to constantly remind the dealer (self-dealt game) to deal a turn card after the draw and before people start betting.
