I’ve had a few different RHC $25 and they all feel light as shit. Is it just me or is there something Paulson is intentionally doing by making them lighter? Is this your experience too? In contrast, $1/5 seem to be consistently the heaviest of the denoms.

Has anyone ever weighed the different Paulson colors on THC and RHC and reported it somewhere? Curious if its relatively consistent across sets (obv comparing leaded to leaded and unleaded to same).

It's more got to do with the colour rather than the denomination. Paulson Green are light weighted
That makes a lot of sense since majority of $25 are green.

Would be curious on this too. Haven't seen/found anything.

I believe @ovo once went nuts weighing everything with his new scale. @louBdub has a thread where he weighed... a lot of chips and posted it.

All green $25s that I've handled are lighter except for the brick shithouse EJ sec $25s heavier variant (the other version is light af <9g).

Most of my greens are significantly lighter too except these:

I think older green (most often denominated $25) Paulsons are lighter because of whatever inorganic mineral compounds used to get the colour that they wanted; as formulations evolved and more organic plasticizers and colours were produced that had less variation in density, chips likely became somewhat more uniform in weight.

The injection molded plastics, whether from higher end or lower end manufacturers, have the most consistency in weight because of their primarily organic composition.

I would agree with this. My ACDC THC set and majestic star 36mms are all leaded older chips and all of the green 25s are anecdotally lighter by my hand weight perception. Especially the 36mm (I'll call them primary due to wear) NCV tourney set with the red denom labels. The green chips in this set feel as if they are 2/3rds of the weight of even the 100 value black chips of equal wear.

I remember weighing some blue ones (Caesars?) and they were super duper light. So I'm not sure.

I weighed my color sample set, but there is no way to know when they were made, other than the new colors. So it's not scientific, but interesting.

Goddam. Can you graph this or at least sort it by weight?

Seems @ovo list might not be super reliable given possible lead content in/missing. But definitely interesting nonetheless.

Looks like @louBdub list would be a good place to add to but might need a better way to organize it. I wonder if ChipGuide could/would add weight - probably would be most ideal.

Yeah, just not sure about whether all those chips were made at the same time, except the newer colors, my guess is it's a mix of many different years, but I could be wrong. It is interesting to look at though

Who knows what other factors are in play? Laminated inlays certainly weigh more than hot stamp foil, but then more displacement of chip material; how big are the edge spots and how many, because they could have different densities; the mind boggles.
