Is there best practices for applying overlabels that fill the recess?

Do I clean chips with Dawn and water to remove oils? Do I wipe down existing label with rubbing alcohol to further clean and remove dust?

The cleaner the surface better of course, lol. But unless they are caked with hooker juice all I’ve done is wash with dawn and dry really good. I’ve got a tournament set that I applied to 900 chips about 8 years ago and they are still going strong. Only one has shown the underlying inlay, and it’s because the inlay wasn’t flush with the chip face.
