I recently ordered 10 x 39 mm Chipco racks from Apache because I thought Chipco trays are like high quality racks, I guess just from browsing on the forums and seeing Chipco racks mentioned here and there, and in some of the classifieds.
I previously had my chips in the generic made in China chip racks from my local poker supply store, they even have the Made in China embossed at the bottom. They fit all of chips decently with just some space to wiggle, not enough for another chip to fit in, but I always thought it was still too much wiggle room. But the quality of the plastic was pretty good, it was clear throughout without any fracture lines, and it was all smooth.
But upon receiving my new Chipco racks, I noticed right away they weren't as good (quality wise I guess) as my generic racks. The side walls were a bit thicker sure, but the quality was just kinda meh, super uneven plastic mould everywhere, sometimes sharp excess plastic edges, so much that I had to take a box knife and shave it down myself for each rack. They did fit my chips a big more snug for sure, still with wiggle room but not as much as my generic racks.
But overall for the price to ship it to my location (not in the USA) plus the currency exchange, I would say they're just not worth it, for me anyway.
Is that just me? Or did I over hype the Chipco trays.
I'd like to know what your experiences are with the Apache Chipco racks if any of you have ever bought them.
