I recently ordered 10 x 39 mm Chipco racks from Apache because I thought Chipco trays are like high quality racks, I guess just from browsing on the forums and seeing Chipco racks mentioned here and there, and in some of the classifieds.

I previously had my chips in the generic made in China chip racks from my local poker supply store, they even have the Made in China embossed at the bottom. They fit all of chips decently with just some space to wiggle, not enough for another chip to fit in, but I always thought it was still too much wiggle room. But the quality of the plastic was pretty good, it was clear throughout without any fracture lines, and it was all smooth.

But upon receiving my new Chipco racks, I noticed right away they weren't as good (quality wise I guess) as my generic racks. The side walls were a bit thicker sure, but the quality was just kinda meh, super uneven plastic mould everywhere, sometimes sharp excess plastic edges, so much that I had to take a box knife and shave it down myself for each rack. They did fit my chips a big more snug for sure, still with wiggle room but not as much as my generic racks.

But overall for the price to ship it to my location (not in the USA) plus the currency exchange, I would say they're just not worth it, for me anyway.

Is that just me? Or did I over hype the Chipco trays.

I'd like to know what your experiences are with the Apache Chipco racks if any of you have ever bought them.

Chipcos are 67.7mm racks so they'll fit ceramics and some Paulson's significantly better than generic Chinese racks. My generic racks fit 21 ceramics per barrel and were very loose for THCs. Only good chips I've found for them are CPCs which fit relatively well in the larger racks as they stack taller. But they are still a little loose for my liking.

Yea I noticed they did fit chips better...

But my post was mainly about how the quality of the Chipco rack was not what I expected unless there's different manufacturers of Chipco racks

Chipco racks are not 67.7mm. They are slightly larger than the standard Paulson/Unique rack size (66.7) at about 67mm. PGI-branded racks also measure 67mm.

The larger 67.7mm racks will fit many (not all) ASM/CPC chips. Most cheaper unbranded racks have barrel widths ranging from 68mm to 70mm, and most are prone to breakage due to thinner material design and construction.

Original Chipco racks were produced by Chipco for their line of casino 39mm ceramic chips, and were made with a (usuallt) cloudy semi-flexible material. After the company dissolved, PGI bought many of the Chipco assets.

After ABC/BRPro acquired the Chipco assets in their PGI buyout, they began making and selling 'new' Chipco-branded racks made in China to the original specs, but using a hard clear acrylic material (similar to that found in all other racks).

Interesting. So are the racks stamped palm gaming underneath the same as chipco?

Similar, but a better design imo -- the PGI racks have a smaller footprint than Paulson racks and weigh less (Chipco is also has a smaller footprint, but is thicker than PGI). Only downside is that the PGI branding is located underneath on the center barrel (which makes them rock slightly when stacked, since it's the centerpoint). Chipco branding is on the 2nd (4th) barrel, meaning that they slope slightly to one end when stacked (same as Paulson racks and most others).

Both Chipco and PGI racks fit new Paulson chips better if there is ANY kind of abnormalities (such as very slight warping). New Paulson chips really only fit well in 66.7mm/Paulson racks after they've been broken in a bit.

The perfect rack doesn't exist; there is only degrees of "better" and "not as good", depending on the specific application.
