Apache 3800 on sale (1 Viewer)

A buddy a few towns over said it was slim pickin's midday. I grabbed 2. They really are such a good deal at $22. I can't imagine a $160 pelican being 7 times better. Especially since we're not submerging our poker chips.

I think these ads should show more poker chips in cases instead of guns.

Got two this morning. Wasn't sure I'd be able to swing by, so I'm happy I could make it.

I bought two yesterday in black and bought a tan one today. I'm not sure what I'm doing with them but 90 day return policy gives me some time to figure it out. The price really is tremendous when Pelican equivalent is $160 compared to HF Apache @ $22. Not saying Pelican isn't better but considering we're not submerging these 7.5x better is tough to achieve.

I wish the 2800 was on sale too. For a 1 table portable set it should really be big enough but hard to justify when it costs more off sale than the 3800 on sale.

Lots of non-chip stuff you could do with them: power tools, audio equipment, Warhammer...

I've never used plastidip before but my understanding is that it's just a can of spray on rubber right? How does it help prevent the foam from breaking down if it just coats the surface? Genuine question. I ordered a clear acrylic case off amazon figuring it's a coin flip if it comes damaged or not. Seeing this now i might return it either way.

Plastidip works great. The problem is that I want a tight fit between my racks and the foam, and Im constantly taking racks in and out of it. As I do that, the foam breaks down and starts to rip or just disintegrate away. With rippable foam, like you say the surface is what you're worried about and its a very porous material; spraying it doesn't just remain on the surface it makes more of the block robust.

Plastidip hinders that process. I have two of these cases, I've plastidipped one and it looks and feels better than the one I was too lazy to spray.

That makes sense, i was thinking about the overall depth and width compression of the foam, but it's more for keeping the integrity of the edges?

Yup, the edges are your failure points. And because of the nature of the foam, the spray penetrates deep enough to make it worthwhile. Foam feels firmer, less flimsy.

I’ve got two cases, one plasti-dipped and one on my rainy day list still to do.

Case has layers of rectangular cubes that easily rip apart:

Original on left, plastic-dipped on right:

No plastic-dip:

Plasti-dip with coating (2 cans for the whole case):

So for me it helps to bind the foam together and adds a stretchy protective layer, less risk like @NotRealNameNoSir says of the foam continuing to separate if you’re putting racks in and out and it rips up. Worth it and will do it to my second case.

Planning to get the 5800 if they’re part of the deal tomorrow. Got the IPS limit set and 2 add on racks for 18 racks total:

Think looking at @joeyshin 5800 that’s the best size for this many chips.
A no build 3800 can hold 16 39mm JustinRacks (top foam removed - bottom foam moved to top - no other foam)

I would think a 4800 could accommodate in "no build" form meaning minimal foam. I'll update my pricing thread with some no-build max capacity pics as soon as I can to help the community.

Anybody have eyes in the store to see what the prices are for all?
In particular I'm interested in 2800 and 3800. Thanks.

Online doesn't seem to reflect this 40% off even if I select in store pickup.

Just picked up two 3800s for $44 total. Didn't check on the 2800s.

I picked up both a 2800 and a 3800 this morning. The 2800 was $29.99 - $12.00 discount. So $17.99 and the 3800 came out to $20.99
