Looking to build a 400 Chip tournament set (400 chips in racks, dealer button(s), 2 decks of cards, and 10-12 plaques). Want to know if the Apache 2800 from Harbor Freight can handle that many or if I need to step up to the 3800.

I've seen there is lots of people with the 3800 (for 600-800 chip) or the Nanuk 910 (for 400-600 chips). But not a lot of information on the use of a 2800. Is anyone using the 2800? If so how do you like it? Will standard chip racks work or did you have to get a particular chip rack?

I’m thinking of trying this out too, did you do it?

Bumping an older thread because I just finished putting my heads up set into an Apache 2800 case (120 total chips). Overkill, for sure, but I wanted a nice place to store the chips, a card setup, plus the dealer button.

Revisiting an older thread to share my results - I was able to make the 2800 work for 600 chips + accessories. 300 chips stacked in 2 layers. Plastidipped 4 coats on all foam pieces and am overall happy with the result.

Loading and unloading chips is a pain because the foam is nonrigid. I load racks first then chips after. The Apache case is a big upgrade for transporting chips compared to the bird cage.

Apache 2800 here.
In case anyone’s wondering what it can look like here’s mine that I just did today. Fits 4 racks, 3 buttons, plaques and two decks. comfortably. My friends and I vape at the poker table, so I thought it’d get a laugh when I show em the dedicated Mr fog spot. I could squeeze in a couple more plaques for 12 total, or I could have designed so I could fit 3 groups vertically but I didn’t want that many. I hope you like it! I used 6 coats of PlastiDip and glued the upper layer to the lower.

I prefer this for more spontaneous smaller games than my Eylar that fits 600 chips plus a bank and everything else. I’ll include that photo too just bc I’m proud of it. Have fun everyone!

Looking for platidip advice if anyone has some. I've never done it before- and have several apache cases for chips that could use the treatment. Any advice for someone whose going to be attempting for the first time?

I just picked up some plastidip from walmart and gave the foam a couple coats. It worked well for me.

Putting together a set for my little bro of Isle Chipcos— was thinking of a 600 chipset and hoping a 2800 would do the trick. Glad to see these setups and get some inspo.

Thanks all for sharing!

Eylar case, what size Apache case does that compare to?

Dumb questions since I’m about to get an Apache: Is the plastidip used to hold the pick and pull together after you’re done setting up your configuration?

How did you cut out the spots for your dealer button/accessories that aren’t a full foam square?
