I just received a $250 order from them and couldent be more disappointed..

I ordered a set of mints, some loose milano rolls, and some loose showdown rolls.

The mint inlays were printed off center. The milanos looks like they were left out in the sun for a week. The color on the side of all the chips is shades lighter than the face of the chip. And the showdowns, which i guess werent so bad, dont have the same sticker inlay as my last set of them. They arent glossy. Its like a nasty metallic print, and they all look dirty/used.

Did something happen? Is this a common thing with them or do they have no quality control at all? I can post pictures tommorow. Im already in the process of contacting them for a replacement/refund.

Mint chips are bottom-of-the-barrel slugged plastic. Cheaply made in China for pennies apiece.

Showdown chips used to be a decent cheap chip option, but that was before Claysmith took over the product line (hence the differences you noticed).

And none of those chips have inlays - they are adhesive-backed sticker labels.

Your disappointment is understandable, but you should give the customer service department a chance to address the problems before reacting too negatively. The Milanos have a long history of QC issues. Nothing new or surprising.

Not sure why you ordered straight from them and not online places like Apache or The Poker Store. Both much better service and delivery. They have those same chips, and even the Poker Store has free shipping on practically all orders. Nothing but good things I've heard from them, too.

+1 for thepokerstore.com. I ordered my Showdowns from them. Super fast delivery, and great service. I emailed him about an add-on, and he sent me a link for the exact quantity I requested.

Well I figured it would be cheaper (which it was) and that the quality coming out would be better ordering directly from them. I guess not :(

Showdowns from poker store for 300 chips is $64. Claysmith charged me $36 for the same amount....

Yeah, but shipping is free on thepokerstore.com, where shipping costs for those chips being 13.5 a chip would cost a hefty sum.

im gonna contact them tommorow. Do you think the chips will be better quality though? That was my main problem.

300 chips is..............$36

I didn’t even know that was possible......? I guess paying $1500 for a rack (100) isn’t “normal”......! Don’t tell my wife...........

 :bag:

Sorry you’re not happy, but honestly after a little more time on here you’ll be throwing those all out anyway........

I have a set of showdowns I bought a couple years back. In my experience, the chips start off rough looking and some with extra material hanging off the sides, but with some use and shuffling etc. they become much nicer like the picture of your older stack.

I can't speak to the rest of it, but the Milanos might just need oiled to brighten up.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The picture looks a bit like a "pre and post oil" picture which there are plenty of at this forum.

Yeah it looks like some of the color differences are just a matter of oiling the new chips.

But the off center labels on the mint chips is pretty bad. No oiling is going to fix that.

I just looked at the sample set of Mint chips I bought. Some denominations, the labels are perfectly or almost centered in the print, some are off. For those that are off, both sides are equally misaligned, obviously an alignment issue in printing vs the cutting of the labels. You often see the same issue with die cut gaming pieces. Unless you're in the shipping warehouse inspecting each roll of chips, there's probably not much to be done about it.
