Why? Is transparency not a fundamental value when dealing with $1,000's of dollars? Isn't that the reason as well we have things like "add feedback".
I think you’re new and understand your frustration, but everything’s for sale until you pay for it or put down a deposit. A deal isn’t done. This doesn’t happen often and you should find something you want soon enough.

I remember someone has a want ad for some chips offering $22/chip. I had a barrel of them and told them $20/chip but then they said how about $18/chip. I said “your ad offers $22 and I said $20 and now you’re trying to negotiate lower??” Not cool. So I didn’t sell. They later came back and offered the $22/chip but I still said no. I sold to someone else for $15/chip.

I must apologise for offering you a price well below my cost for a new member in his wanted ad. I won't do it again.
not even about the price lol my budget was $2,000 anyway, it was about the the reservation and the coming back 12 hours later after multiple messages to just say "yeah they were sold before you messaged me 12 hours ago"

Yes my OWN messages that I send out , please tell me why transparency is bad and why we should just let new members who don't know much get walked over lol.
Except it isn’t just your own messages, is it? It’s poor etiquette.

You fumbled the ball on a good offer. You’re new, so it happens. No big deal, learn from it and don’t be an asshole about it.

And you didn’t get walked over. As I understand it you got offered a great deal but still wanted to negotiate a bit more first. If I’m the seller and I got the choice between a new guy that sorta maybe wanna buy after some additional haggling and someone with a clear intent and cash in hand, they’re getting the business.

Can't have your own messages with yourself, that just wouldn't make sense lol. Yeah I think you're missing the part where I was told they were sold BEFORE I even messaged him yet kept the conversation going with me for 12 hours thereafter lmao that's what the issue was. As if maybe I were to be a backup or have a better offer idk.

At this point, I don’t really care what happened. My point was private messages. I told you my opinion on posting those, an opinion that I suspect is shared by most on here.

Do what you will with the information. Good luck having a meaningful use of the PM function if you’re gonna keep disregarding the ”p”.

First word in PM is private. You don't publicize PMs under most normal situations. In this case, I understand, you were actually responding to direct questions, and really you were supporting the seller anyway, so no harm done. But it's something you need to respect.
Jesus, leave the seller alone. Not every transaction works out. No harm, no foul.
Actually it was someone else who was questioning why seller didn't sell to @Kage and he posted the PM to explain the seller's situation. I suspect he gets it now.

Or maybe I was wrong... You didn't just post your own messages. You also posted the seller's messages. That's what is not allowed. No one is walking all over you. As a new member, we are explaining the house rules of courtesy. So you won't make the same mistake again.

Even after providing the PMs @Kage you didn’t commit to buy and they were for sale.

Don’t worry plenty of chips to buy.
@Kage This here is the key. If you never specifically said "I'll take them" then you have nothing to be upset about.

I realize when you are new, you don't always understand the etiquette. Saying you're interested and still asking questions unfortunately is not a firm commitment to buy. There is no "reservation." You either commit to buy them, or they are still available if someone else commits before you.

Honestly, all of us have been in similar situations where we were interested in something, but it got away before we committed. Me personally, I'm a big proponent of the "dibs in the thread" then PM process. Whoever posts dibs in the thread has priority to buy when I sell something. But this is totally up to the seller, and many other sellers don't use this method.

I think if someone offers him chips in his wanted thread then he should have some reasonable time to think it through. I don’t think others should jump in a dibs them. But from what I hear, and I didn’t ask to hear, is when the set was offered with a newcomer price, a lowball offer was pm’d (seller offered for $1400 but op sent offer for $1000).

Now this is just me, and we know opinions are like buttholes, but I’d be incredibly insulted at some asking for further discounts on something I specially discounted for them which is why I posted about the other scenario. Both scenarios, while different, make me feel the same.

I’m just assuming here and I could be completely wrong, but I think seller saw op’s pm lowball offer and chose not to reply bc he was offended. He replied when he had something to say.

But I could be wrong. I know nothing

Ok let me just clear this up. I think I have had decent communications with most people here, and I don't want to create any misunderstandings with anyone.

The OP did not lowball me or anything - while I've had some interesting offers from others, he was just interested. While I was asleep during the period he expressed interest, another person offered to buy the whole set. As such, I sold the set to the person who wanted it first. I did not offer the set to the OP specifically, I had already posted a specific sales thread to sell my set. Therefore I didn't wait to see if @Kage had still wanted it first. That's all. I hope this clears up this stupid situation.

BTW, not cool that you leaked the PMs.

Thank you for clarification. I apologize for being wrong about what happened. We all learned. Let’s move on.

Yep. Unless there is chicanery or tomfoolery afoot PM should never be made public. He’s a new member and I’ll give him benefit of the doubt. Hope he finds his set and hangs around.
