Im new to this community, but not new to Poker. And I would like to get my first set of Poker Chips. Does anyone know where I can get some Anime Theme Poker Chips?

Maybe a custom ceramic set would be best for what you are looking for. I agree with the above to narrow your idea down a little bit to help a designer nail what you are looking for.

Also, welcome to PCF!

Pre-existing? I'm not sure I've seen one, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Odds are, a pre-existing set is likely labels on crummy chips. Depending on what specifically you are looking for (show, genre, etc.), you'll most likely have to go custom.

I did a Fullmetal Alchemist themed custom set two years ago:

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/a-d-s-devils-nest-cpc-customs.78031/

and purposely decided to be subtle with it. It's definitely a case of "if you get the reference, you get the reference" which is something I appreciate when I catch a reference someone else makes in similar way.

Welcome and good luck with the search.

As others mentioned, you have options and we can make recommendations, but there are some things we need to know.

First, what is your budget? To do a custom set, there are several possibilities with different price points:
  1. Inexpensive custom ceramics - "Tina" chips from China. Around 40 cents a chip. Full custom. Get anything you want printed on the chips.
  2. Better ceramics - BR Pro Poker. Made in the USA at around $0.75 - 1.25 per chip. Also get just about anything printed on them.
  3. Relabels. Wide range of chips that can have new custom labels applied. From basic slugged plastic chips as cheap as under 10 cents each, all the way up to premium Paulson clay at $1 - $10 or more per chip. And about anything in between. Anything with an adhesive label or an inlay can be relabeled. There are a few different options for getting labels printed and they are going to run you from 5 cents to 25 cents a label depending on vendor and quality.
  4. Custom clay chips from Classic Poker Chips. CPC is the only game in town for real compressed clay chips with custom inlays or hot stamped. Typically run from about $2.00 to over $5.00 a chip, depending on the mold and complexity of the spot patterns you want.
Are you wanting a cash set, or a tournament set? Lots of folks come here thinking they can use one set for both. Technically, you can, but for numerous reasons, it's not recommended. Plus, we are chip degens, so... MOAR CHIPES!

How many chips? You can comfortably do a single table tournament (STT) set with around 400 chips, and can squeeze by with as few as 300. (no rebuys) A good cash set will be around 600 chips to cover a moderate range of stakes. Can get by with 400-500 in some situations.

So tell us what you are thinking. We have an active classifieds section here and once we know what you want, you will get lots of suggestions.

I had the same thought when looking around for a chip set. You'll need to design a custom set. Everything I found was just card guards or commemorative type chips, no chip sets to play with. Going down the custom design path, I eventually decided that any specific anime chip would eventually become outdated unless it's from an insanely huge franchise that keeps going like Dragon Ball or One Piece or Gundam. Also, not all my friends watch anime so they wouldn't appreciate it like I do. I initially wanted to design a Kakegurui set with the characters like this

But then thought they use chips in the series so I want to eventually design a custom set based on the election chip. Haven't gotten around to it yet though. It would be like that FMA set, if you know, you know, otherwise it's just a nice chip.

Hey!

Thanks for all that information.

In terms of budget, I would probably like to spend somewhere between $500-$750. All my buddies and I do is Cash games at home, no tournament style play so I was thinking maybe to start with a stack of 600 chips.

I’ve see the other comments and how maybe a small time anime wouldn’t garnish a lot of attention, therefore a mainstream anime like Naruto or DBZ.

And finally, thanks all for the warm welcome!

That’s awesome!

So the designs are made by us, ourselves? Or do we bring an idea to someone and they design it for us?

Thanks

Either way. Lots of us use @mattross1313 or some other designer.

Warning, it sounds like you're going for trademarked characters and symbols, that's a controversial topic here. Certain chip manufacturers wont do it. Tina/China will, those are cheaper chips of lesser quality but fit your budget and needs just fine.

I sorta disagree with @DuckFat regarding the design. I don't give a rat's backside what other people think about my inlay design. My design is meaningful to me. If others get it, that's cool. And if they don't, no worries. I designed them for me. Only thing I would say id that if you're concerned it might be a design that wouldn't age well to you, then maybe reconsider that.

As an example, here is my first custom design that I put together soon after joining PCF back in 2020.

If I didn't explain what all those icons meant, would you know? Some might, but a lot of folks would not. Doesn't matter to me, because I know what they mean, and that's what is most important.

So in other words, you should design something that you will enjoy, and don't be overly concerned about whether others get it or not.

That’s awesome!

Unless you are really comfortable with your own graphic design skills, definitely hire a designer. We probably have around a dozen members here who are very competent with graphic design software and can take your ideas and put them on a fantastic looking chip design for a very reasonable cost. I used @timinater for the chips above, and my latest design using Stevie Ray Vaughan (in my avatar) was done by @Johnny5 I can comfortably recommend either of them, and there are many others here that will also do a great job helping you capture your ideas.
