Good afternoon from a dreary evening here in Ireland.. BLUF;
Decided to make a poker table (8 person, oval shape) for a family member 2 years ago - still nowhere near completion.

I’ve fallen down a poker rabbit hole in the last month or so, from trying to source decent materials (not so easy this side of the Atlantic), to decent chips (again very limited supply but went with the 43mm Royals (thanks poker merchant)).
What started as a project to chip away at when home has recently turned into a bit of an obsession with all things poker - spending countless hours scrolling through this brilliant forum and watching probably every table build available on YouTube.

I guess this is me introducing myself but also I would greatly appreciate some more info on a couple things.
First the dreaded vinyl. I’ve read through a lot of the threads on here including the fantastic detailed one with pictures, I’ll be sure to make use of it. But what I’d like to know is the type, just how important is it to get stretch? I’m concerned the 100% polyester I’ve brought (no stretch) is going to give me nightmares.

Also I’ve decided to go with a strip light but unsure on the process of fitting it. There doesn’t seem to be an awful lot of direction out there on this.

Anyway, I’m glad to be here and I look forward to any and all response🤝
*If it turns out anything like the image attached I’ll be one happy man.

Welcome to the show. There’s an expert on everything around here and it’s super helpful. Good luck.

Welcome!

Your introductory post has an AI generated photo of a table with dice chips. You are going to have to up your game around here.

As for the lack of stretch, it shouldn't be a problem except when making the rail. You will need a friend with a good grip to pull the fabric tight without allowing wrinkles to develop.
