After reading all the different threads here, I've been toying with the idea of changing my blind schedule for my tournaments. The one I run with now seems to work fine and everyone enjoys it but it has a couple early on 100% jumps which I've read is ok early on, just on later. The other issue is the tail of my blinds seem to close, we've never gotten that far so it really doesn't matter I guess, just looks bad on paper. I start everyone out with T1500 stacks and we average 14 to 16 players. I would say we usually end around 800. We play 20 min levels if that's important to your input.

I was thinking of removing lvl 2 on the proposed schedule. I'll leave my other thoughts to myself for now and see what everyone has to say.

Looking forward to your thoughts or comments.
Thanks,
John

Schedule on right is perfect as-is, up through L16 or L17 *. Unlikely your group of 16 players will ever get past L15, so max 5 hours plus breaks. 41% average increase, with nearly all at either 33% or 50%..

Schedule on left blows chunks. 46% average increase, but no consistency -- increases range from 20% to 100% jumps, with no logic or valid reasons to do so.

* Not really applicable to your specific usage, but T100 chips should be removed from play somewhere between L15 and L17. Allows subsequent easier levels of 1000/2000, 1500/3000, 2000/4000, and 3000/6000 to be used.

Look good?
Like you said we'll never get past level 15.
Very sneaky by the way. I was going to ask you about your thoughts after L16 and you edited it to add the info.

Probably want to go with 800/1600 for L16 -- since T25 chips will be long gone by then, posting a 750 small blind may prove difficult. Can color-up the T100s after L16 if the event is still running.

Is this a rebuy tournament? how much "play" does the latter part i.e. final say 5 players of your tournament usually get? If this is rebuy I'd chop out many of the early levels to force action earlier (assuming people generally rebuy). Total chips increase and the people who get near the money which I assume is top 3-4 max at least will have some chips to do more than bet shove with. Without rebuys a ~14-16 tournament is essentially a sit n go so I'd consider structuring it without the slow progression at the beginning. The chips gained in the beginning pots are pretty meaningless and for me I don't like to spend too much time early on if it's only going to be a shove fest anyway a couple levels later. Just a suggestion.
