So I won some plaques in @links_slayer's raffle that I want to use to add on to my tournament set.

My current breakdown is listed below. I was thinking of either a 20k or a 25k and possibly a few 100k plaques. (I have a total of 40 as part of the prize, with option to add on)

So my question is 20k or 25k - and do I add a 100k? If so, breakdown?

I see 25k a lot more often than 20k. 100k is always nice but rarely see play, Bounty or Rebuy Plaques is something that sees a lot more action.

But ofcourse it is great fun to set up high roller tournaments and have plaques in starting stack and then having a bigger plaque to do color up is a must .

I have 25k and 100k in my set. I think it also depends on color 25k is green or pink in my books but you have used both.

I have 10 x 25k plaques for mine, but 20k would work just as well. I rarely get more than a handful in use, but it depends on a number of factors (starting stack, # players, # of rebuys, etc). I'd probably use a few more in a deepstack (50k starting stacks).

Rebuy or bounty plaques would be an alternative.

So I have bounty chips already - so that's out. I wanted to go high denom as when I hosted my charity tournament I ran out of 5k chips to color up the huge stacks of 1k that were on the table. I figured if I went with 20k plaques I could exchange one plaque per barrel of 1k's for an even exchange. I just wasn't sure if going 20k would be so far out of the 'usual'

Sounds reasonable. I went with 25k because it was readily available. If I was making customs, I'd consider 20k.

Kinda reminds me of having a $20 vs $25 chip in a cash set. Go with what you want to use.

Isn’t there a good reason to go with one over the other, relating to coloring up? I never play in tournaments that use anything bigger than a 10k, so I don’t know off the top of my head. And I don’t feel like thinking.
I believe @BGinGA brought it up when they were discussing which big chip to use for the hybrid set.

Alternatively you could get 10k and 20k plaques and skip your 5k chips in a tournament.

Yes, using a T20k chip requires that T5000 chips remain in play much longer, and constructing blinds (and bets) is very ineffecient and requires many more chips to accomplish. I posted a detailed description on Craig's other plaque design thread.

No, you can't. Unless you want the T1000 chips to remain in play for a ~very~ long time. Executing this concept would slow down the event considerably.
