Putting together a simple custom cash set. Chips are locked in due to budget constraints…for now.

Would like to hear thoughts on the following:

1. Round inlay has to go on the $5…but do you agree with the shape assignments otherwise? The white frac will get a “border” shape ala Majestic $1.
2. If this was your set, which chip/s would you swap out and with what?
3. Didn’t want to get fancy with the spices here, and not sure how much I’ll pay for the graphics designer…but what small detail would you add to the label design?

The white is my frac, day blue as my $1, radiant red as $5, green is $25 and charcoal for the hundo.

Looking forward to some good feedback.
Thanks!
Jeff

I would recommend not using white as a frac, white should only be used as a 1 or 100. I prefer a blue 1.

Because of the Vegas standard it can cause problems with seasoned player, whom have been conditioned to value them as a 1.

That green chip is strong.

Gotcha. Unfortunately I’m stuck with white as my frac based on quantities available. Unless I win the power ball then we be good.

Any “details” you would add to the label design? Not intending for it to be boring, but don’t want it to be too artsy.

Think inlay shape assignment is good?
I would favour the hub shape on the $5. Just the classic shape for them. Personally I'd go round $1 and hub $5, but it's all preference and there's no rules for shaped inlays.

On my custom set I ended up doing hub $5 and a hex $1 as I think it worked well for the set, but it was a tough choice. Almost did round.

I always find this logic odd. If someone is a “seasoned” player they are probably good at math etc etc… but they get confused by the denom or color on a chip? Never makes sense to me.

Eh, not that I subscribe to needing to follow casino rules, but if I play most of my poker in casinos for decades Im going to see reds as $5s, and Ill probably bet wrong at least once a night. No, doesnt make the set useless but something to consider.

Not saying I fully agree but perception is important, if Im buying a lifetime set I want to make it easy to use. If Im using white fracs, I'll definitely make sure the denom is large and easy to see to make the transition easier

So @Gear is doing my labels. Unfortunately the $5 I decided to use in this set (Scandia $5) is Radiant Red. And they can’t get that color matched (for the space around the hub, it was my first choice for the 5 as well…so I can either get “close” to radiant red or…use the circle shape to sidestep this).

Have you played any or many games with white fracs?

Have you played so much with Vegas standard you hate a red 5? ( I think this is true, I’ve seen your sets lol)

I understand keeping sets “standard”, I just personally find it funny that people get so confused when there’s maybe only 3 denoms on a table at any given time.

If I may… I would voice a critic about your logo. I assume it should read "El Jefe" with a stylised J?

As is, I think the J is too different and disconnected, and the reading / immediate comprehension does not work imho. I see more a bretzel than a J to be honest.

It is a nice start though, the balance is good and it could work well.

I hear ya, a tweak in alignment/placement and font size has already been communicated to the graphics designer in charge of creating my label. The “fancy” J, aka pretzel, is how I initial stuff…and I love pretzels…so, it stays.
Just need to hear different perspectives before I ultimately settle on a forever set (not selling this).

Yeah, I would perhaps only "bold" it, to give it the same weight as the rest, so it is more clear that it is part of the word, and not just a graphic element placed aside.

I’ve toyed with the idea of a different color frac, but ultimately loved the base chip I picked, and my other cash set is a Paris set with white as a frac as well

It’s funny and doesn’t seem like a big deal until it happens to you ;)
