Are the $500 and $100,000 the same color?

Yes. The original T500 chip was blue, but many found the Blue T500 mixed in a little too easily with the T100s. Using the T100,000 as a relabel makes sence because
  • Purple is a commonly accepted T500
  • T500 and T100,000 are unlikely to hit the table at the same time.
I am among those who went with the purple T500, but I've never needed anything bigger than T25,000 with CPS chips.

Makes sense. I agree that you probably wouldn't need more than 4 chip values for a normal size tournament (10-20 ppl). So, $25-$1000 would be a set and $5000-$100000 another high denom set.

Where does one find purple T500 then if it’s the newer color? I can only find black, like on Apache.

When the CPS group buy occured, there was an option for unlabeled chips and labels sold separately. I'm not sure if Apache has any labels left, but you can always ask.
