Cash Game 7 buy ins enough? (1 Viewer)

My personal rule is 5 BI and if lost go home. It has happened once in my life. Likely I should go with a rule: lose three buy-ins and go home.

Of course I also have rules about not drinking when/before playing for real money.

These kind of posts make it painfully obvious what a f'ing nit I am compared to most of you, and I'm by far the biggest gambler and most likely to burn a few buy ins kind of guy out of my circle of friends. 7? 5? I'm done after 3 and it doesn't happen that often at all. lol :p

It's all about the math. How much is the buy in, how many free drinks do you get, how much would those drinks be at a strip club? Do the math. Pizza doesn't count. :D

Yay, so there's gonna be good money in play tonight huh Bill!!! ;)

That's why I'm bringing the malt... Loosen you guys up a little, LOL!!!

At meet ups my cap is raised to 20ish buy-ins.

LOL no joke. My 3 biggest single-session losses ever have been at meetups, and probably none of my top 10 winners (miraculously, I'm still up overall for meetups, somehow.)

For a $1/$2 game I usually bring $800-$1k, but I only remember actually being in for more than $500 once (brought $1k, was in for all of it and down to $94 at one point, ended up cashing out $530 - sure was glad I brought that last buy-in!)

The .25/.50 $60 max game where the majority of buyins are $20 is another story. I've been known to be in to that game for $400 (easily double anybody else's record) and wouldn't even bother showing up with less than $200 - nobody ever folds!

Running my stack up a bit...

Lot of fun indeed Mike! I ended up +4 buy-ins after being -2 buy-ins early on...

Second orbit of the nigh (PLO), four stacks were in the middle by the turn... Flopped straight, top set, open ender to a bigger straight and my nut flush draw + gutter... DD's straight dodged everything for a quadruple up...

GG guys!!!

My 2/3 for a 6 high straight was the winner in a 250 pot, lol.

I finished with a profit of 180. Should have been 280 but so be it. Great company, great night. Thanks for bringing the whiskey for me to sample.

No worries man!

Yeah, you did a great job picking your spots well and staying out of trouble... I almost folded to your 3-barrel bluff there, the 3rd to a flush was definitely not the card I wanted to see on the river...

And speaking of the Laphroaig Quarter Cask, man, even this morning it kinda felt to me like we played poker by the campfire... I still could feel the smokiness in my mouth... :-)

It is really weird but even though I did not drink any Laphroaig I can smell it still in my mind's eye (nose?). It really is very unique.

At regular games I usually cap it at 3 buy-ins unless there is a unique dynamic. At meet ups my cap is raised to 20ish buy-ins.

I normally bring 5 buy ins. Two are for loaning out :) I feeling a little extra frisky last night

I bring $1500 to my weekly games with an initial buy-in of $200. But the game has ever increasing stakes. If I go busto early I rebuy for 2-300, but if I bust out late, I may rebuy for $500 or more. More commonly I just add-on a hundred at a time. I hate playing short-stacked.

My answer was about to be "yes". then i realised there was the word 'buy' in the thread heading..... that'll teach me too read to fast!
