I knew this post would bring out the chip snobs and haters.
I bought 2 sets and they are inbound and will report back.
If it helps someone then great if not no big deal.

Nah, I've already explained this in another post I used to play and run a game years ago so I am very familiar with chips. I had around 5k Paulson chips in sets and some ceramic sets when I ran my game. I understand cheap sets and quality chips. Not everyone is a serious player and only play on occasion with friends, family, coworkers, etc and many start with cheaper than these is quality. Any of these cheap sets work fine for the casual user. I stopped playing years ago but old poker buddies and coworkers asked about playing every once in a while so I bought a table and some chips to host the game on occasion. Could I see myself buying a high end set of chips? Maybe but I'm sure these will be fine for the type game I am hosting for now.View attachment 1449920
At least two of the highlighted items they so proudly feature say "Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!" to pretty much everyone here.
Hopefully they suit your needs and you are able to move blissfully along. I suspect we might see you back here in a month looking for other options.
Best of luck with them.
What are you implying? You think I am shilling sales for chips? LOL that would be a no. I am not selling chips nor plan to. Look at my post history and you will see I recently bought a table (Costco) and going to host a few friends and coworkers. Also, you would find my post asking where I could find these same chips in higher denominations to add to what I bought.
Thanks, that was my intention of starting with these. Like I said earlier I ran a high no limit game for years and getting players together some times is like hearding cats. If you want 8/10 sitting players you better have a book of 20 or so that know about the game. Playing short handed can suck especially if you are actually "running "a game. I bought the table for $150 from Costco. Actually bought 3 and sold 2 for $250 each so a profit of $50 and I got my table for free. $100 in chips after the profit for the sold tables I have $50 total in the setup so far. 8 brand new banquet chairs for $160. So $210 total investment for a new table, 1k chips and 8 chairs. I know I can get my money back for what I have in everything.I assume he was referring to the fact that you purchased these chips, but you are right, the NOT MINE tag means you are not the one selling them.
I would agree with the above, these a low quality, weird denoms, weird breakdown and certainly have dirty stack potential, particularly in low lighting (IMO, the $50 and the $100 are the worst).
These are probably on the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality and playability, but at 10c per chip, they are also at the bottom of the price scale. Not the worst deal in the world, certainly an affordable entry point for those just getting in to hosting. I would say that you won't be able to give these away in the future, so your $50 is gone. Some might say you should've held on to your money and saved for a chip that would hold its value (maybe increase), some would consider it the cost of learning.
Enjoy them while you have them, maybe give them to another local looking to start hosting when/if you are ready to upgrade.
If I eat my foot in a hotdog bun, is it a sandwich?I'd rather eat my own foot.
I think it’s called a footwich. If I eat my foot in a hotdog bun, is it a sandwich?
What’s your profit margin on these?Got these in and they are nice for the money. Cases are pretty junky but that is expected but I don't use cases for the most part. If I do it would be a bird cage style anyway.
No real flashing, sharp edges, etc. They have a nice mat finish, they stack nice. A little hard to shuffle but probably get better with time.
If you are looking for a budget chip set I think they are worth it.
You must not be to bright. Profit margin? They are $50 with free shipping. If i was shilling for chip sales I would be the worst one around with these prices. I would guess the vendor had to pay close to $30 in shipping with the weight of these being 31 lbs. So that leaves $20 before product cost. I bought them for my use and just passing along the info. What’s your profit margin on these?
I've explained this in MANY previous post. I understand what nice chips are and had many sets of high end chips over the years. Yes, a douche bag response is a douche bag response no matter how you look at it. I appreciate your response. It's not that the group are "douche bag trolls", as you say. We're very particular and appreciate good chips, not necessarily "a good deal".
Most of us started with chips either exactly like these or very similar and quite quickly discovered their flaws and came to realize there are much better options available. Not exclusively $5 per chip Paulsons, or level 4 spot CPCs for "better". In the last two years there has been a shift to recommendations for the inexpensive Chinese produced ceramic chips as an option.
You are just hearing folks saying these aren't the cats meow. You are going to have a very hard time convincing anyone on this group that these are any good. It's like trying to sell a Casio watch to someone who prefers Rolex. You are unlikely to change their mind.
You're clearly happy with them and wanted to share the deal you found on them. May they serve you well and may you bring in many big pots with them in your game.
Playing nice will serve you in the long run. The chips are, well, chips… if you want to get what goes on around here don’t market what is really not likely going anywhere and then get lippy. Just saying. You must not be to bright. Profit margin? They are $50 with free shipping. If i was shilling for chip sales I would be the worst one around with these prices. Jeez with the douche bag trolls in this group. I've been involved in a lot of different forms in my 54 years of life (poker guns, cigars, hunting, fishing, etc. )but this one is pretty bad with the trolls.
Maybe you’re not selling them but no sense in getting all sensitive when people voice their opinion. I mean come on man…Playing nice will serve you in the long run. Lippy? I responded with the same tone back that I was given. Last I looked the name of the forum is Poker Chip Forum, not high end poker chips, luxury poker chips, the best poker chips, top of the line poker chips, nope just poker chips. Not everyone that is a member of this forum can and will buy high end chips like Paulson, Chipco, etc. Some don't take it that serious and just looking for a decent budget set for the occasional game with friends. PCF is like a bunch of mates giving each other shit for laughs. Not really trolling. More kind of including you in the fun.I've explained this in MANY previous post. Well, tone is hard on forums. Most of us could fire back in a lot on instances and when we don’t we take a step in a good direction. Are there folks that like the high end stuff v. the low end stuff? Yeah. Do they have to make it apparent? No. I take heat about my Dice Plaques, playing $25’s as fracs, mixing molds, mixing materials, and generally being a bit of a rogue in many ways. But they tolerate me and only because I only gave it back in the most loving kinds of ways. I’m almost 60 and my leaning has always been “what are you looking at” in life. Not so much anymore.Lippy? Naw… The line isn’t as fine as one would think. Fire back and it’s on. Don’t do it.Opinions are one thing douche bag responses is just that, douche bag response.
