2021: Best Substitute for Paulson Chips? (Similar to Top Hat & Cane) (1 Viewer)

jim said the used chips still stand on edge and were only in circulation for 4 years

You could still use the bed for rare special occasions, like sex with guests:p

On a more serious note, and answering to the OP, Paulsons (especially older, leaded ones) are the best chips in the world, but they are not available from the source anymore (which means praying, begging, waiting to get lucky, getting fleeced by profiteers if new and un-informed, and buying/selling back and forth to get what you finally want at the breakdown you need.)

The world's second best chips, and the very best chips the public can buy from a business today are CPCs.
Several molds with two concentric circles (HHR, Jockey, A-mold, B-mold) can sound very nice.
Less colors available, but they can work marvelously if properly matched to each other.

My wallet has voted two custom CPC sets and two Paulson sets (one custom-overlabelled and one historic heavy-leaded hot-stamped).
Putting together the custom-labelled Paulson set was an ordeal, especially from outside North America, and I 'd never do it again.
If I have any money to spend on luxury items ever again, it will be more custom CPCs. Making my own chips is most important for me.

If Paulson ever offered customisable chips to the public again, offering color samples and a designing tool, I 'd prefer their 90-color palette to CPC's 38-strong one, at the risk of going insane or broke (or both).:)
Thanks for the detailed reply. Really like the CPC Rounders Replicas...but will wait to see if Jim releases another option. thechiproom.com is currently not accessible.

The website is never accessible. I guess Jim just uses the domain to run his email server or something. You have to order in the sale thread in the PCF Vendors section

It's kind of funny though, I have a buddy that is one of the hosts of the league I am in. He has a set of ASM Roman molds that he had made probably 15 years ago now? Anyway when he got them he was so excited for them to see a lot of use and eventually round out and be like nice worn-in casino chips. 15 years and probably 400 tournaments later, those things are still sharp as can be.

Good to know! Thank you for clarifying. I will continue to monitor the Vendors section.

I'm finding it nearly impossible to purchase anything via the For Sale Forum here, but certainly like seeing the varied chips for sale.

Why are there so many Horseshoe Casino Indiana chips available? While seemingly slightly more affordable, I'm still leaning towards CPC Rounders Replicas - just bc (IMO) they're pretty freakin cool.

The HSI (Horseshoe Indiana) chips were from the last major @TheChipRoom sale. With another one coming up in a couple weeks, members are trying to free up some cash.

The same thing happens before every big TCR sale.

Although to be honest the HSI sale was a pretty huge one. There's even still some chips available from TCR. There's been alot of buying and selling in the classifieds since the sale. I know I've personally bought, sold, and am planning on buying different stuff
