Do these starting stacks sound OK? I can adjust them.

20 player / 20K stacks
8/8/4/7/2

8 x t25
8 x t100
4 x t500
7 x t1000
2 x t5000

(pic shows 8 x t1000 chips by mistake  )

I want to color up and remove the t25s as some point.

Blind Suggestions?

It looks pretty good to me Tommy... Depending on how much time you have for the tourney, you could do 15K instead and have more chips to color up T100, T500 and maybe even some T1,000 if you want at some point... Here's my suggestion for blinds:

50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300 (color-up T25)
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600 (color-up T100)
1000-2000*
1500-3000 (color-up T500)
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
6000-12000
8000-16000
10000-20000

*You could go 1200-2400, 1600-3200, etc. to keep the smoothness of blinds but I rather get rid of T100s earlier...

If T20K, it should end around 10K-20K maybe a bit earlier... If T15K, one or two levels earlier... You can calculate the duration of each level based on how long you want the tourney to last...

Happy T-G man!

Thanks for the help. I never ran a tourney this big before, how long should one expect a 20 player tourney to last?

I guess it's more like how long do you want it to be, with a minimum of course. For me, minimum level duration is 15 mins (20 mins really). So in the example I gave you, 20 people at 20k, no rebuys, 15 min levels without any breaks, we're talking 4 hours and 15 mins... With 20 min levels, 5 hours and 40 mins. With 15k, 4 hours and 5 hours respectively roughly... But you have to have at least a few 10 min breaks added to that...

Btw, really nice nice set Tommy... I have mine on rotation as well and those chips play great!!!

4 hrs sounds about right for me. I am getting my large tourney set put aside, will see what I left over to label as SD quarters, then I will sell the rest.

Tommy, there's nothing wrong with your proposed chip stacks. If you wanted to do it with fewer chips, you could try this:
8x25
8x100
2x500
3x1000
3x5000

I use 25,000 stacks, and do the above except with 4 5,000 chips. It works just fine. We do sometimes have to have someone trade in a 5,000 for 5 1,000s, but not always.

ChaosRock nailed it, both with the blind structure and proposed times. Just remember that there is nothing magical about blind level times in 5-minute increments. If you want your event to run 4 total hours including three breaks, go with T20K stacks and 13-minute blind levels (or T15K stacks with 15-minute levels). I'd probably do the latter, and just remove one T5000 chip off your starting stacks.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I changed it a bit and went with 25k stacks.

20 player / 25K stacks
8/8/4/7/3

8 x t25
8 x t100
4 x t500
7 x t1000
3 x t5000

+ 40 x t100 (for t25 change out)
+ 40 x t500 (for t100 change out)
+ 5 of each tourney chips for extras

705 chips total.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not necessary to color-up lower denomination chips with other low denomination chips that will also later be removed from play. Instead of 40 x T100 chips to replace T25 chips, use four T1000 (or one T5000). Same for replacing the T100's, instead of using 40 x T500 chips, use four T5000 chips.

How are you gonna finish a 20-player T25K tourney in four hours? lol

Does one player color everyone up and then do the change out with just that one player? I was going to change out each player individually. Maybe I was making it harder for myself. Was using this as a guide.

Drunks shoving all in?? LOL Aggressive blind schedule? ;) Don't think I will have a 20 player T25K Tourney too often so going over 4 hrs will be OK.

We've had up to 27 in a 25,000 tournament with blinds starting at 25/50. It's rare for us to go past 4:20 in playing time.

Two easy ways to do it:
1. Have the players sell their chips to the largest stack at the table, and use the big chip to buy them all from him (getting some extra change to round-up or race-off the odd chips not already sold).
2. Exchange the big chip for smaller-denomination change from the largest stack at the table, and use that change to color-up all of the other players at the table.

I'd use the blind schedule posted earlier in this thread by chaosrock. You don't need the extra hassle of antes.

Gotcha! I was using that just for the change ups. ChaosRock blind schedule is what I will use. Thanks!
