Neither. Unless you have some specific reason. And if you do, then it should be obvious which one to use...

Only time I've ever bought either one is to murder them and turn into fracs. They are both great for that!

This is the feedback I need, thank you. Honestly, I like too many of the colors I chose for custom chips. I was looking for an excuse for more chips. I did wonder where I would ever use the chip. I guess I’ll have to make a decision on which color to cut. First world problems.

Since colors are the reason and not specific need, neither. Add higher denoms $500, $1000, $5000, etc. If your cash game doesn't play that big it can be used as a tournament set as well.

Both chips make great limit game options. I had a $2 limit set for $4/8 games and now I have a $2.50 custom chip limit set to play $5/10 and $7.50/$15.

High denom chips are in high demand and very expensive. Your typical Paulson $1K and $5k are 43mm chips that go for around $15-20 and up per chip. Much more economical to buy a cool looking $2 or $2.50 chip or other denom in a color you don't already have, and relabel it for high denom cash and tournament games.

This is the custom section and they said it's a custom set where they chose too many colors they like.

Yes, these are chips that I am designing so no need to relabel. I do like the limit idea, however I don’t play any limit. Maybe I should look into that. Might be fun.

I once bought a few $2 chips in a cash set for playing $.25/$.50 blinds, thinking it made sense. But people never used them. They just use $1s and $5s. Plus, it seems like a lot of people get confused if there are more than 3 denominations in play (even if the values are on the chip). I feel the same way about $500s and $1000s. I don't see the need for both denominations, but, like you, I want an excuse to have more colors & chips.

I like a 2.50 for limit but it has to be pink for the proverbial pink chip game. $2 gives you a little more playability (2/4, 4/8, 6/12, 8/16) and greater range of color options IMO.

I'm in the more chips camp, honestly, you can just look at them and they have served their purpose

I'll be overlabeling the Paris 2s for fracs. I figure we can have a friendly .25/.50 cash game using them. We'll go 12/12/5 for a $40 buyin.

The denom can make sense but I think it's more that people stick with the denoms they are accustomed to from casino play 1/5/25/100. I play at Aria and they have the $3 mint chip for the 1-3 tables but players never seem to want them and often ask the dealer to change the one $3 mint chip they got in a pot to 3x $1 chips, not even waiting for the BB to reach them and use it.

The $7.50/$15 limit "pink game" with $2.50 chips at the Trop in AC back in the day was the nuts
To me, that's just being different for the sake of being different. Why not just play 8/16 like everyone else? Is that $3 discount really gonna price people into the game?

The pink chip game has an allure to it because it’s played with snappers. Its not because of the stakes difference, it’s just a fancy thing to hook more players into sitting down.

Seems like a really smart way to differentiate your game. Why be just like "everyone else" when you can set yourself apart and be unique?

I figured it out! I will do both colors in fracs and just have the option on which color to play that game. GENIUS!!!!

Make a no-denom chip that can be used for whatever purpose you need at the time.

It can be used as a frac (pick one/any), a $2 (or $2.50) chip for limit games, a high-denom tourney chip, or even be used as any number of 'novelty' chips (Bounty, Rebuy, Show'Em, Bomb Pot, Double-Board, whatever). It can even serve as a 'secondary set' denom if you just want to occasionally change up your chip lineup.

Got two favorite extra colors? Make two different no-denom chips (and see above options).

$2.50 makes sense in only two situations:
• Blackjack where you expect a large number of bets to be $5, $15, $25 etc
• $5/$10 limit or $7.50/$15 limit where you need the snappers to keep a 2chip/4chip or 3chip/6chip structure.

If your plans don't exactly match one of these, go with $2.

Great idea! I never thought about this before.

I’m trying to get ahold of some Trop snappers for my low-budget blackjack set. While I look, I thought that half-dollars would be fun, similar to what the casinos now use. I didn’t realize what a hassle / scam getting $0.50 pieces has become. Maybe your idea for non-denom pink chips is the way to go.
