I am interested in the mint chips if the winner doesn't need them.

I just found out that this auction was price-fixed by a backroom deal between @Grandmasturkey and @ReallyGoodUsername .

I had stepped aside from bidding as a courtesy to @Grandmasturkey who I have done business with, and considered a chipping friend. I did it because she made the comment of having wanted these chips since she started chipping. She even PM’ed me after I stepped aside, letting me know her max and effectively thanking me.

She subsequently made a deal with @ReallyGoodUsername to trade the chips before the auction ended, without letting me know.

I think that’s a disservice to @JFCJ who might have ended up with a much better price on the chips, because I really wanted the rack.

I suppose what they did didn’t break any auction rules, but I think it’s crass and slimy. As far as I’m concerned, I will never do business with either again.

Lol. This seems like a wild reaction. I am not trading the chips. @ReallyGoodUsername is taking the more used ones (I assume to go with the fives he won), I am taking the minty ones. No different than if I bought them and then sold the ones in a different condition to someone. I messaged you as a courtesy to tell you that we had a maximum price and if it went above that we would be bowing out. Also because I consider you a chipping friend. No good deed goes unpunished as they say! Oh well!

You didn’t say “we”. You said “I.” HUGE difference. You also wrote me to say that if @RivieraDanny would go higher than your mix, I should go after it.

That’s manipulative. Because you used my courtesy to not bid more so you could get the chips to broker a side deal with Tom. That’s price fixing.

Take a different example, which Tom tried to hit me with earlier. I’m bidding on a lot of California singles. @PocketAces reached out to me to ask me if he could buy some of the chips in the lot from me (6-7 out of a 100) if I won. That’s not what happened here — there’s no one who publicly stopped bidding on those chips to give me the right to get the lot. If there was, the first thing I’d have done is go to that person and say “by the way, Alex wants to buy some of these chips, and I don’t need them — do you want them? Since you bid on the auction”.

The biggest issue here is that @JFCJ was the big loser here. I would have easily gone up to $2000 for the rack.

Krish. This is a hobby. Not life or death. I don't have to defend myself to all these crazy words you are using to describe me and @ReallyGoodUsername re: slimy, crass, manipulative. These are extreme words for a hobby that we are all supposed to be enjoying. It's just chips! We all trade them and barter them and broker deals via PM or at least that's what I've been doing since I joined. I'm not going to be responding to any further criticisms regarding this via PM from you or on this thread or any other. I have more important things to be doing than arguing about this and I hope you do too. Goodnight.

This makes me sick to my stomach. I struggled with this all night. I've decided I am not moving forward with any of the Nevada Hotel transactions, and cancelling all of my auctions. I will be refunding those involved in this manipulative gross conduct. I too suppose that they didn't break auction rules, but they sure as hell did not act in the best interest of the forum.
