I am sorry if this was discussed before, but I wasn't able to find anything for this.

My friends and I are starting a home game soon. I see mixed opinions on how many BB the buy in should be. We will be doing rebuys, however what is more common and which is often the best you found, 100 or 200?

Thank you

For no limit Holdem, It’s common for cash games to have a range that people can buy in for - something like 60-200 big blinds would be a typical range, and if one guy buys in for 80 and another guy buys in for 150, that’s fine.
100 big blinds is probably the most common buyin amount - it’s standard for online games, but feels a little short to a lot of live players.
If it’s a new game with people of varying skill levels it might make sense to cap it at 100, because people will get felted, and it’s less painful to lose 100 at a time than 200.

What these guys said.

Start with 100 unless all players are experienced. Deeper buy ins give sharks easier means to make money from the fish. That isn't good for a sustainable game.

100 BB was a widespread standard for a long time, but I think there has been a trend toward 200 BB games being more desirable in the past say 5 years or so.

I think 100 BB is better for a game that is forming and see what the feedback is there. Most importantly, however, when starting a new game, is honestly assess the price point at which your players are comfortable with 3 buy-ins in a night. If you are getting too many one-and-dones, it's a sign your stakes are too high.

Good luck.
