I bought these many years ago from another member as “new” when trying to build a Kings Crown set. All my other chips are 4 single spots so these don’t work for me.

They’re not ‘dusty new’ but the edges are still the dull chalky color of unhandled TRK’s and the corners are sharp. I’ve never played them and this is probably only the second time I’ve removed them from the box.

Update - I recently compared these to my other KC chips and they’re a little wobbly in a stack (which means there’s some slight warpage). Therefore I’m not considering these “Mint” and dropping the price.

The price is $400 $300
via PayPal F&F, in the continental US plus USPS Flat-Rate box shipping (your choice of small or medium). USPS Flat Rate small box shipping included in price.

Wow, a blast from the past!

There were from a custom spotted Kings Crown GB back in the chiptalk days.

GLWS!
Thanks! I’ve seen more of these floating around and knew they were customs but couldn’t recall the group buy. They’ve been sitting on my chip shelves for at least 10-15 years, lol!

…and weren’t the Kings Crown solid hot-stamps like .60 cents each?…I did get in on that group buy! :bigbucks:

It must have been more expensive than that. TRK used to do solid hot stamps for .50 cents each. By the time the KC hot stamps were done, I believe TR King had already closed. So custom dies were made by BCC and stamped by them. Maybe the blanks were .60 each though.

OMG! 🤯
You really should put a NSFW warning up before posting pics like that, lmao! 🤣

Either that was prior to the Paulson Pharaohs group buy or I just wasn’t interested in TRK’s yet, which seems really odd considering these pics!

I believe you're correct. The Kings Crown GB preceded CT. I believe the Pharaohs were the beginning of CT since Tenpercenter was making a lot of posts on the 2+2 forum and decided to create CT as a dedicated chip site.

So the KC GB was also listed on 2+2 and the 'texas holdem' forum. Both of those had a few chip GB's before CT.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I still have the receipt somewhere. I didn’t get enough chips because I was expecting to do a second round, but then we abruptly found out there was no second round.

Do these exist anywhere for sale? Those $1s and $5s are hot! And the inlaid quarters.

Only if you can find someone still willing to part with them. I sold mine decades ago.

There were two inlaid custom TR KC group buys. The chips above were a larger GB. The second run had some different colors, and only two people that were interested in purchasing at the time.

I have pics of both runs at home. Probably should spam this thread anymore though lol.

That’s okay - I do that too! Lol! 😆

I actually bought these forever ago hoping to find the others, but no such luck. I’m not on here a lot though anyway so I’m sure I’ve missed some opportunities.

I'm on here *too much* and haven't seen a playable set of them for sale in a long time.

According to my old emails, it was a custom spotted GB started by a guy called Ray, and Dennis at TRK will only accept orders if Ray puts your name on that list. The deadline for the order was 2/11/2005. The price was $0.85/chip.

Ray is on here too. @raynmanas

Sold his set long ago, so don't spam him lol.

This was the original design proof of chips to be made. However, TRK screwed up the spots on the $1. It was supposed to be 4 alternating 1/2in light blue and white spots, but the ones made were 4 double-spotted light blue and white stripes. Dennis gave a 25c credit to each chip made for the mistake.

That "mistake" on the $1 is genius. 100% better looking chip. Absolutely no need for spot progression from $1 to $5 when there is none after the $5. Having a simpler quarter is just fine though.

If a playable set of these were available, I would have a hard time not buying.

Correct on the error. I was working about 10 min from TR King at the time in downtown LA and picked them up the first day and pointed out the error. There was a choice of .25 refund for each, or MORE CHIPS for free! Of course, I chose the more chips option. I don't remember what the ratio was, but I didn't mind so much after getting more chips. I'm thinking 25 extra per 100 or something like that.

There was a short period of time when you could order more at the original price, so I added enough for a tournament set.

I actually like the ‘mistake $1’s’ much better - they fit with the other chips…which kinda comes full circle to why I’m letting these go - the few denoms I have are all stock ‘4 single spots’.

you don't have a singles of these do you? i only have a $5 (thanks @warewulf) and i would love to add to it for nostalgia's sake.

Wish I had! I haven't a single one of these unfortunately. Sold the entire set to someone here... but don't want ppl to blow up their mailbox. I'm sure it's been resold a couple of times since then too.

sorry for derailing OP. seeing this chips in the wild gets me REALLY excited lol. i wish i had some use for them. might still buy them regardless lol

Great looking rack!

Any chance all you TRK old timers have any spotted hotstamp King's Crowns?

I have one single I was gonna keep, just to have, but I can tell it actually has some meaning for you. PM me your address and I’ll get it out to you.
