I’m looking to put together a small heads up or 3 person cash set to fit in a case that holds 112 chips. My current breakdown is as follows:

30 $1s
40 $5s
28 $25s
12 $100s
2 $500s
Total bank of $3130

Starting stacks of 15/17/x for heads up and 10/13/x for 3 way with $25s/100s/500s for reloads.

What would you adjust?

Kill the $500s in favor of 2 more $100s. You'll basically never use the $500s, and even if you do, having a fifth denom in play when there are so few chips in the first place is weird. It's not like a normal cash game, where there'll be a nice pyramid of $5s and one big chip on top. It'll be either by itself or mixed into a stack of five different colors.

New breakdown will be $2,330 total bank instead of $3,130, average $1,165 per player if HU or $777 per player if 3-handed. Whether this (or your original breakdown) is sufficient will depend on your players, of course.

Thanks. Solid advice, I didn’t want 5 denoms either but I’m a little crazy since this set was conceived around the 2 $500 chips I have.
