I'm thinking of dipping my toes into cash games, and I want a set that can accompany anywhere from $0.05/$0.05 up to $0.50/$1. I want to have 1000 chips along with less than 100 plaques for the highest denomination ($20). The game would usually be no more than 8 people + rebuys, likely ranging from $50- $2000 on the table depending on the blinds, how drunk the players are, etc. Thoughts on a good breakdown for that?

Hi,

For a full single table, I'd go with :
0.05 x 100
0.25 x 200
1 x 200
5 x 200
20 (or 25) x 80
100 x 20
--> total = 800 chips

For 8 players (with round barrels) :
0.05 x 80
0.25 x 160
1 x 160
5 x 160
20 (or 25) x 80
100 x 20
--> total = 660 chip

NL5 : 0.05 - 0.05
NL10 : 0.05 - 0.10
NL25 : 0.25 - 0.25
NL50 : 0.25 - 0.50
NL100 : 1 - 1 (not 0.50 - 1 because personnally I prefer to avoid 2 chips small blind in cash game)

Thanks for the help. Ideally though, I’d want something which can accommodate having more chips on the table at any given time. And to clarify I meant 1000 chips + 100 plaques, so 1100 in total.

Ah ok I thought 1000 was your max not the exact number of chips.

At .50c/$1 you can skip getting $100s, you'll rarely (if ever) use 'em. Even at $1/$2 there's rarely a need for 'em with any decently sized set.

I've got a 1300 chip set more than good enough for 2 tables of $1/$2 & it only has 100 $20s as the largest denom. Even so, the amount of $5s in play isn't overbearing.

200 x .05
200 x .25
300 x $1
300 x $5
80 x $20 plaques
20 x $100 plaques

if you wanna go super chip heavy in the .05/.05 game go for it.
i know traditionally we don’t need more than a rack of fracs but from your comments and wanting to be chip heavy........
If you are happy with your guys only having 10 nickels each get 400 $5’s and 100 nickels instead.

Hear me out, if you want to have 'more chips on the table' go with a 2.50 chip... and make it pink.
I was just about to say this would be very helpful for me, but then realized a 200/200/300/300/100 breakdown with traditional denoms would still be more versatile, and I could make the nickel pink instead.
