Not Mine Official money chips (1 Viewer)

We should probably agree to just stop posting about these $25k money chips. There are too many sellers trying to take advantage of people. I'm not sure who exactly they are taking advantage of, as I find it hard to believe someone with $22,000 sitting around is thinking, "Oh, I'll buy this chip for $22,000 then turn it in and make $3000 profit."

Instead, let's all step back and take comfort in the fact that our time on this Earth is limited, and these sellers are choosing to waste their precious time here by putting up pointless eBay ads that no one will buy. (This is also how I approach people who argue on Facebook or in the comments sections of websites.)

You’re not the first flip...person I’ve seen make a statement like this. A friend wants to know at what point does it change to taking advantage of people...

Very subtle haha.

I almost want to message the $22,000 seller and let him know that I have more of those RARE official money chips, that I would be willing to let him have for half of what he is asking.

Then I realize I barely have enough time to do important stuff, so I have no time to troll. :(

@BarrieJ3 makes a good point, and I generally try to refrain from posting my opinion about anything on PCF.

However...

@DMack I think you, too, can take solace in the fact that I spend a lot of time looking at my computer and phone for chips. This means that I waste my precious time alive looking at pages and pages of worthless garbage, hunting for gems. I do this because it is the only way for me to afford this hobby.

Like most of the vocal PCFers, I imagine you spend your days in your corner office, earning big bucks, before going home and spending some quality time with your wife (and kids, if you have them). You are making lasting memories and living your best life.

Meanwhile, I'm a lowly college student and poker chip addict who must scour the web to find chips as I cannot rely on a good paying job. Yes, sometimes I sell the chips I find for more than I paid. Because I desire good chips I am willing to sacrifice my enjoyment in other areas of life. As with anything, there is an opportunity cost.

I'm too poor to be an equestrian, so I can't speak to how satisfying it is to ride the high horse of online forum morality, but it must provide many users here with some kind of endorphin rush.

I won't have any more posts about this, and this was likely the wrong thread to post this, but I'll just say that I seem to have shown up on the PCF Appreciation Thread a few times now, and there are people here I consider to be good friends with (as good of friends as you can be with someone you'll likely never meet). I am not saying that to be boastful, only to make the point that while you may disapprove of a poor person searching the internet for cheap chips, there are several members who find me quite likeable.

@BarrieJ3 has made the point before that he sees it as an issue of adding value to the community or taking value away from the community. I know lots of people who think I add value. And sure, a few who maybe feel I detract value.

But I think we can all agree that being salty about how someone else lives their life is going to do more damage to you than that other person's lifestyle.

At the end of the day I'm just an unemployed college student with a poker chip addiction. Don't devote time to thinking about me. Go be with your family (or your chips).

I’m in social work, so that tells you all you need to know about the millions I’m making.

As for your explanation, you’re going to do what you’re going to do. Obviously, you try to make money off of your “good friends that I’ll likely never meet,” so I just wondered what the difference is with someone trying to make a buck, or $24,999.90, from people they don’t know. I had an honest question as to what point it crosses the line when trying to fleece people. I was looking for your perspective.

As for your story about being “poor,” I wish I was as “poor” as you when I was a college student. Didn’t you just buy the $3K set on eBay to go along with all your others?? I didn’t even have money for dice chips when I put myself through school. I also had to walk up hill to and from school, in the snow, while dragging my books in a suitcase with no wheels.

I actually contacted the seller a couple months ago to ask where the chip can be cashed. Rest assured you can take it anywhere! I’m in for a small take for doing that little piece of dirty work for you.

That’s funny, I thought the original post was a joke to poke fun at the morons attempting to sell these things. I didn’t realize it was a notification for those in the market for these. My apologies.

Also, when are you taking that LOA you talked about? Or were you just trolling with that statement as well?

Given the price he wants for the 25k chip, that 10k version is a steal at just five bucks.

Hmmmm.... maybe that's his real angle -- not actually selling any big-ticket items, but using them as props to justify buyers spending $5 on his ten cent trinkets.... a pretty profitable venture if you can generate enough volume.

They are all separate accounts in different parts of the country.
