The chip that started it all... and the problem one! (1 Viewer)

My first "gotta have it" chips were my PCR tourney set. I always loved the 25 and 100 in the original lineup, but wasn't as big on the pink 500. Then Apache offered a new purple 500 option and I jumped right in. Sold a few years later, my lone chipping sale regret :(

That sale, though helped to fund my "in too deep" purchase.  PNY tourney set. $30 a chip for pumpkins, youch!

Pumpkins are $45 now so no regrets!! Plus you wrote the history of PNYs so it’s all been worthwhile!!

I found Mardi Gras on ebay, and fell in love. This was before I ever saw a PCA chip... Thankfully, finally acquired a set Ben and both love alot!
My problem chip is/was PCA $500 lol I paid $37 per chip for my original 20 PCA $500 secondaries... and have yet to score the quantity I need at a price I'm happy with for primaries
Photos or it didn’t happen  :ROFLMAO:

Let’s see the PCA $500s. I thought $12 for the PNY $500 was a lot...

They’re awesome. Brilliant that you still have them. I might regret asking this but what the hell is a coon dog?
Coon dog is like a hound and they apparently play good poker lol

A coon dog is what boys in the hills call their "raccoon tree dog." Usually a hound dog is what they use to tree raccoons so they can shoot them. "Good" coon dogs are natural at their job like Phil Ivey

:)

I love poker, love to host, and never played. Figured better stuff would result in a more regular neighborhood game, so I opted to host and googled poker chips. Had to little to no idea, and bought Joneseys CPSs (still love them, have added on to em one or ten times).

It’s only been a year-ish, so I haven’t come across any chips that have made me fall too deep into a hole. Im still pretty wet (ooc) behind the ears when it comes to understanding spot progression, what the general public deems aesthetically pleasing, and classical looks/designs. This year is for trimming some sets, finishing others, wrapping up labels, etc., so maybe I’ll find a problem chip soon!

Jack did it to me.... Before Jack I was just an ordinary guy using some metal slugged chips and graduated onto some nice ceramics. Everyone told me to stay away from clay. One sniff and I knew I was hooked.

After Jack the real drug problem started. Now I'm into shaped inlays, semi customs, and beaches... Can't get enough clay. Anyone selling some clay out here?

Amazing chips but you’ve got a problem. Off to rehab with you  :ROFLMAO:

The chips were the best thing about that movie  :ROFLMAO:
You're not wrong! Who made the Chesterfield Club chips for the movie, was it CPC, too?

I'm still holding out for a Rounders 2, but they use Paulson this time to make the fantasy chips... Who'll then come out of home market retirement and sell them to us donkeys.

Don’t tell anyone but they’ve approached me...

The first chips were plastic sluggers but I still couldn't help buying way more than I needed or ever used:

But the problem chip is this one:

My first buttery smooth TRK and not my last. I have no idea where this will lead me but one thing for sure, it's not going to be cheap.
Thankfully I’ve managed to dodge the TRK obsession bullet!!

I too started with the "dice chips" but that is not what began my obsession. A friend of mine had a really nice set of ceramic casino grade chips that made you feel like a professional every time you played. That is what started it for me. Soon began searching eBay and saw the prices for Paulsons and lost all hope! Love the fact that you all share the same obsession and show that where there is a will there is a way! Just need find a nice cash game set to get started!

The set that started it all for me was WTHC. I bought them back in the day for $1.19/chip, my friends thought I was crazy when I got 1600.

BTP $25 is the problem chip for me.

Damn, both, cause now I can't find anymore. I have 120 of them now

Edit: They are in really good condition but I'd still like to see what they looked like after a bath in an US cleaner.
