Stories of Scams on PCF? (3 Viewers)

...and some wonder why so many of those big sets I had just disappeared without listing to the public. If you make enough friends here and have good chips for sale, never need to have a risky sale. Didn't know about the potential CC F&F scam or if anyone has fallen victim here.
QFT both @inca911 and @slisk250.
This is why the site has threasholds for participating in the classifieds. To encourage participation and interaction so as to get a better sense of who is who.
I feel as comfortable after 14 years with dozens of people on the site as I do with close family. New people are most vulnerable because they don’t have the same sense of who’s who. Inca’s Post is very valuable for people who are new to the site.
I think we all look suspiciously at the new folks that come only to sell. Post padding to use the classifieds is probably the #1 bullshit that we mods deal with.

Maybe he died ... it happens.
I had that happen (I believe) on a rifle purchase. Bought it, he disappeared, reappeared 4 years later in bad health, then disappeared again. It was a pretty rifle... I wish I would have got it. :(

I'm going to disappear next week with the 13 boxes of chips @BarrieJ3 sent me. Then suddenly a Jeff Kifer will appear next week with a "I got these from my uncle, wut r they $$$$" post.

Its a perfect plan....
It was a fun two - three weeks. Done buying in the US for awhile now while I sort through the chips and try to create something.

If the ship sinks though, I'm renting some scuba gear and going to save them.

What happened with the chip designer/artist that skirted off with people's payment? Didn't he have an "accident or something" and folks here setup charity auctions for him?

I presume that was all bullshit from the start. No accident, total scam, no evidence just a hunch from the very start. Guy had a history of ghosting.

Yep, I counted several benefit auctions specifically setup for this person. Sux.

I re-ordered them and had them delivered to the people who didn't receive them. As far as I know Joe has them all at his house and he bathes with them every night? Perhaps he has a bunch of uneven tables/chairs and they got used propping them up before he could ship them out? He hasn't surface here since mid 2018
I wasn't trying to be a dck, I just meant did he try to eBay or w/e them. Was curious if you seen your buttons on the net months later. So weird someone would do that.

Didn't take it that way - you're all good! I didn't search for them at all. I should have set up an eBay alert or something perhaps. Most likely they are collecting dust in his basement :(

That sucks man. I sell on eBay and get orders at 3am sometimes, I personally want stuff I ordered as fast as possible, so I ship them before leaving for work at 6am. It always amazes me hearing how people can do senseless stuff like this. Buttons not even chips :banghead::meh:

Yeah, the mystery of what happened to Joe E is sort of like Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Hoffa.

Disappeared without a trace and nobody can get in touch. Or will fess up to being able to get in touch. So surprising...very nice dude and he came to WCB a couple years.
Maybe he died? Or got murdered? Killed in a car accident? (Hopefully not, sounds like a nice dude, minus the buttons)

“The Sting” is a great movie. One of my favorite parts is when Paul Newman is talking to Robert Redford about the difference between “the small con” and “the big con”. Bailing on people on this forum for $300, $150, etc. is the small con, and people who do the small con are morons.

I guess that begs the question of who on here is doing “the big con.” I feel that maybe @detroitdad is setting me up with his play at his mini-meetup and is going to ask me for a HU big stakes game.

@Joe E. was definitely a nice guy and definitely did not need the money. He is/was pretty successful in his professional life. I tried a few times calling him since we used to talk a bit. He is/was a very nice person and I would hate to think something bad happened. I even left a message with his firm and never received a response. I do not think he was one that would ghost so I really think something happened. What that was, we may never know but calling him names and assuming he did something is really pretty silly. We all hate when someone else accuses us of something when all along it was harmless. Maybe we should all learn something here.

While I am at it!... I think these types of threads are unhealthy for our community! Come on guys we are all adults... I think! Try and settle things in PM's. REalistically I thought this kind of a trolling thread!

off my soap box again!

Keep on chipping!

But I've been nice and not been trolling!!!

Through PM we would of not heard your opinion and that you knew him. Why is it a bad thing to be open about truth? If someone did you wrong call it out and let them defend their action. If multiple people met this guy and can vouch for him, ok we make our decision if we want to deal with him. Since he has disappeared we don't need to worry about it.

So now what is your opinion of mascowradio? Good guy right?

I mostly agree. However, its also bad to let a snake in the woods go unnoticed. That can also be bad for the community.

Based on the twitter account listed in his profile here he is alive and well as of October 28, 2019. He hasn’t responded to any messages of mine or anyone else in 18+ months. I’ll stand behind my opinion that he stole from me/other members. I went out of pocket to make it up to those members. In my opinion and experience with him, he’s an asshole. YMMV.

I think these threads are important if they can steer clear of bashing. Nothing childish at all about sharing experiences and the circumstances of something like this. If I tried to resolve this by PM we’d still be waiting.

I’ll be the first to make a post when he makes things right with me. Don’t hold your breath, I’m not holding mine.

I know you (very publicly) don’t like @Lemonzest but comparing him to drumhoss ain’t right. Regardless of how you perceive the SB buy, Perry sent chips every time someone paid him so the two situations are not the same...at all.

Oh maybe I am slow and missed that I was being compared to Drumhoss. Yeah that seems pretty unfair.

I am not really sure what the drama is as I don't know @detroitdad from Adam and we haven't done any deals together.

My point was try to settle through PM's, then if not then it does not hurt to make the community aware. My point is many people make statements about people that they do not even know or have even dealt with. They make statements because that is what they heard.

Just like your last two question. Why should I even answer them? I have never had an interaction with him so I am not going to comment. Not sure what you are trying to do with posing those two questions!

I'm a noob here, but are you claiming you would send let's say $200 to Moscow because you haven't had any bad experiences with him? Or let's say setup another charity auction for him? I am trying to point out you know about him through posts not PMs.

Where in the heck did you get the idea or assume that I would deal with him or set up a charity auction for a person I know nothing about?

Agreed, if it’s not a big con why bother?

 :ROFLMAO: jkjk

As for the whole getting screwed by a PPFF via CC payment, I record my packing process for anything expensive and always get my postage online so I don’t have to worry about losing a paper receipt. That plus requiring a signature will get you protected from just about any type of buyer scam.

Personally, if the seller asks for PPFF and I haven’t bought from them before I always pay via CC. I have a CC that pays 3% back so I get the extra security and they get the FF payment they wanted. Win win!

Also I love what @WedgeRock said in the Moscowradio post...

I'll just leave this here!
Maybe I'm over dramatizing this... But a man was involved in an accident where he could've lost his life and all some people on here are concerned about is money they lost out of their own wallet?!

Asking questions and requesting updates? Fine. But is human life worth so little that we need to make a thread chastising the person who is lucky to be alive? My guess is he has a few higher priorities right now, and probably can't pay you back if he wanted to, given that he's out of work.

Boo-fucking-hoo for you.

If you think he made up the bike accident story, fine, I have no problem with calling him a scammer and a thief. If you believe he was in a bike accident and are just pissed that the job you paid for isn't his highest priority, suck it up, buttercup. Dragging his name through the mud isn't the best way to get your selfish priorities addressed.

For the record, I don't have a job pending, nor do I know Moscow other than his public posts.

I am not sure what came out of this but @WedgeRock made some great points and expressed what I meant much better than I did in my earlier posts.
