Playing .50/.50 mixed games and $2/$4 FL7CS last night. Playing PLO, action fell onto the player to my right, who paused to take another hit off a hand rolled, Groucho Marx, sized blunt. He set his smoke down, looked around the table, then threw his hands up in the air, exclaiming in a panic. "Where are my cards? What happened to my cards?"

"Chris" I said. "You have them in your hand spread out like a Chinese fan." :D

In for $40, cashed out $295.

Alot of my guys use to come and smoke during it, now that it's more common, I gotta say that has actually slowed down. I think the more common use daily as made it a little less of an occasion thing. And the crew has gotten older and do it less. Who knows.

I am not a smoker. My understanding is that the cost of marijuana has dropped considerably in States that have legalized it. People who like to get high in our group no longer go outside or pass around a joint at the table. One shows up with his own kit, another one brings his glass bong and they are all showing up with their own weed. In short, they are bringing that part of their identity to the table.

Instead of players staring into their phones or watching the game as before, now they are staring into their kit putting together their next high or rolling a blunt or showing off various products, such as dabs, etc., which has resulted in fewer hands being played per hour.

Maybe this will pass. Who knows?

It was fun to watch a player shake his head back and forth looking for his cards when they were in his hand high above his head. A missed opportunity. I should have told him they were under the table.

The host texted me that they want to get together for another game tonight. Should I feel wrong taking money from people who can't even keep track of the action, much less their cards?

Time for a little bake and rake.

A couple guys in my game do. As long as they go in the back yard I've got no problem with it. My problem isn't with marijuana, its with any form of smoking in the house. If I wasn't hosting, I would probably join them.

Smoking is pretty commonplace up here. All smoking at my place needs to be done outside.

and to answer the question, it hasn't changed the frequency or amount of smokers.

I have one regular — older, semi-retired lawyer — who always arrives early and tokes up in his car before the game. Lousy player. Loose-passive. Doubt he would play differently if he wasn’t stoned. Really nice guy. Almost never misses a session.

Wish I could find a dozen more of him.

I’d rather play against a drunken player any day for rake as you put it but they spill beer everywhere  :ROFLMAO:
