Since I don't know how to make a poll I guess I should just ask -

For those of you who run or attend a regular home game, how many of you use Jumbo index cards as a matter of preference?

Thanks

I buy Jumbo but prefer standard. Let me explain, I have a handful of players who would need to where glasses to see standard cards. If I use my jumbo they all say how nice the cards are. So I just transitioned to always using them to make my players that are on the older side more comfortable.

Depends on the table size and players. I personally like standard 4 pip cards. Larger table means Jumbo. Good guys with vision issues that make a request, I go Jumbo.

Jumbo. After using jumbo to deal blackjack at a casino, standard pips just look tiny to me.

I prefer Jumbo (a MUST if only 2 indexes)
Ideally, 4 jumbo indexes.
If I have to choose between 4 normal and 2 jumbo indexes, I 'm in the middle. At a large table I 'd rather go with the jumbos. For reasonably sized round tables, I 'd go with 4 normal ones.

I prefer standard, but usually use jumbos simply out of necessity, as you need good eyes and really good light to be able to pick up standard index cards from across a big table.

Jumbo for holdem and standard for dealers choice games

^ This. Used bridge/standard only for a long time, until all of our players (including me) got older and can no longer see small print from all seats at the table. Now it's bridge/jumbo or I get complaints (and have trouble seeing, myself).

Don't like four corner or dual pip cards -- I think they are too cluttered, and can too easily cause confusion as board cards.

So you change decks when dealer chooses Holden or what?

Who in their right mind (except for my dad) would pick holdem on a dealer's choice night?!?!?!

Lol no, we use jumbos for nights with only hold'em. Dealers choice nights I put out standard index and use those for the entire game.

Much prefer standard. Never had a player who could not see what the cards were from afar, regardless of age, regardless of table size. Everyone can see the suits fine and even clear see the count of suits that make up the number cards. Plus they just look better; Jumbos have unpleasing visuals with it's reduced face/numbered suits design compared to the aesthetics of standards. Also Jumbos are so big you practically are lifting half the cards up just to see what the whole pips are.

One of the reasons I like Copags; They're standard sizes are more bold compared to other brands' so it makes it even easier to make out the cards compared to most, IMO.

Understand the preference of jumbo for others, but really prefer not to use them. Besides, we see the whole card when viewing and not just the pips.

Now if they made more Blackjack size and not have the pips as large as Jumbo, then I wouldn't mind as much.

Jumbo - We play under very dim light on a full length table for player dealt games. Sometimes those cards can be very far away.

I don't care for jumbo. We use standard (bridge size) only. But as you can see, it is really just a matter of personal preference.

Jumbo for Hold Em and standard for any game where I get more than 2 cards.

What's an example of 4 jumbo index and 2 jumbo?

I personally prefer standard especially if I'm playing games with more than two cards. However, I do understand if there are players who need the jumbo index in order to see the cards easily.

I prefer the look of standard cards, but out of respect for people's eyes and making my game run smoother, I only use jumbo index. People at the very ends of my oval table sometimes sit up or lean forward to see the cards better when the index is smaller.

As a host, I don't want to inconvenience 2-4 seats from seeing/playing the game, especially when there is a very easy solution.

I get that bridge-size cards are a little more comfortable in the hand, but if you've got lots of people around a big table with minor vision issues, then why not use poker-size cards with a jumbo index?

I'm not sure if poker size vs bridge size actually increases the index size. Maybe just the white space in between the pips.

Though maybe bigger cards are the way to go....then the index you choose doesn't matter as much....

So for it depends on the table. If you are on a circle/octagon table, then regular index works, but if you are on a oval table, having jumbo cards helps a lot, especially when its a self dealt game. The people dealing at the end, typically don't place the cards in the middle, as its a long reach, so the person on the other end would see that cards better with jumbo.

Jumbo - I won't buy standard any more. And personally bridge size but that's not such a bother.

I played 4-handed on Friday with standard index and it was OK because we were all sat at one end of the table but when the table is full, and since we rotate dealing, jumbo makes it so much easier for people at the ends to see the board.

Jumbo for tourneys, as my tourneys pretty exclusively NLHE.
Standard for cash games since we play a lot of 3+ hold card games. Since it’s easier to peek at down cards if they’re standard index.

I actually think bridge-size would help more than poker-size with standard index.

The designs inside of the card are more condensed in the bridged then more spread out in poker-sized since both are trying to cover the maximum space given to which sized deck is being created/used. Face cards, though I can possibly seeing as having a bit more trouble viewing than poker-sized since they have to condense them some to retain their original non-distorted design on a more narrow surface.

This hits it on the nose

I like using jumbo index for my poker games. Any other game and I use standard index.

For Hold Em I use poker size cards. For Omaha or other dealer's choice games using more than two hole cards, I use bridge size cards.
