I think I'm getting ready to take the plunge and order a set of customs. A few years back some of my friends starting calling me Bobski and the nickname just kind of stuck. Combine that with the fact that I have always preferred a blue $1 chip and you have the theme I have decided to work with, Bobski's Blue Chip. It has been fun following other people's design threads so I decided to post my starting point and see what kind of feedback I get from all you fun people. Here is what I have so far:

I will do some updates later on with background on some of my choices along with changes I make to the inlays. I'm already working on some alternates and may change them altogether.

Can you get some red into that green? All the other colors look well blended except the green which is very green.

What denoms are we looking at here?

There's a lotta blue in the mix currently. I'd introduce some other colirs, like more yellow and some bright white. DG pink makes for a great spit color as well.

Good mold choice for the theme!

The $5 and $25 look good. Orange frac is cool with blue $1s.

Blue spots are intentional with the thinking of having a blue spot on every chip. We can try different things but I thought it would tie the set together.

Be careful with orange and red chips in play at the same time. They are too similar in my opinion. Yellow $5?

This is a good point. I'm going to need to look at a day glo tiger sample chip in person.

I have also considered making a Delta Club clone for the fiver.

Doh.. I didn't even realize that. Maybe arc yellow or dayglo peach then.

I'm guessing frac, lots of options for the $1, then $5 and $25

Strongly advise going with:

tiger frac
blue $1
non-red $5
green $25 or pick'em $20 (could be almost anything, really)

My preference is a yellow hue $5 and either black/white/charcoal $20, depending on how dark/light the $1 blue turns out to be....

Your green chip is HAWT!!

thinking the same thing. one of the best custom green chips i've seen in a while.

i would suggest that you definitely should change the dark blue on the green chip to retro blue. i've yet to see a case where dark blue looks better than retro blue for any reason. retro just has that glow to it whereas dark blue just looks flat to me.

Thanks for all the replies everybody! Good feedback so far.

I think I'm going to need a sample chip for the day glo tiger. My sample set is Links old set and it doesn't have a couple of the newer colors. I'm working on the inlay this morning and will probably mock up some non-red fivers in the process.

OK, I did some work to the inlay. I changed up the background a little bit and made an inlay for the quarter. Should I leave the inlay blue for all the denominations or have the color echo the base of the chip? I can try it both ways but I think I like the matching colors so far.

Some other options for the quarters.

I think 1, 3, and 8 are pretty great.

1, 2, or 3 imo. love that fucking dayglo tiger.

don't yet have samples, but i actually don't think you'd have much of a problem with differentiation using a dg tiger frac and red $5 and i'm usually really anal about that sort of thing. but ymmv obv.

I'm hoping this is the case as I really like the original fiver. My wife loved that combo when I was working on the first go around.

I second that! Retro Blue >>> Dark Blue (and it isn't even close).

I like 2 and 8 for the quartets.

I am pretty sure DG Tiger appears significantly brighter in the design tool than in the flesh. Still a hawt color tho

So I thought I would mention the inspiration for the $1 chip. I'm kind of a baseball nut and the Twins came out with new home jerseys/hats that I'm in love with. The new color scheme looks great in person.

I tried to match the colors on the $1 chip to a certain extent. The dark blue base would be a closer match to the color scheme, but looking at the sample chips in person I like the standard blue better.

For the $1, I'm a fan of #8. I think for the most part, my personal preference is 3 colors on a chip -- base + 2 edge spot colors. After that, too busy for my brain. Unless of course we're talking Mapes :) I'm sure there are other exceptions. But sometimes, simple is better, I think.

Edit: never mind.my favorite of your chips is the green one, which has 3 color spots. I guess I am just a fan of simple.
