I need schooling ...... Paulson Top Hat & Cane (1 Viewer)

Are these chips, in fact, much sought after and rarely available? What's so great about them?
Well presuming you aren't trying to catfish us, Paulson are generally associated with the premier when it comes to poker chips. They are the company that makes the clay chips that you typically find in casinos. They stopped selling to the public a few years ago and thus are now becoming more and more rare.

dude, it’s like Yugos and Brabus Maybachs. Both are cars and both work for transportation, but which would you rather drive from New York to LA?

Hi Suz, and I apologize for some of the rude responses above. When I was first getting into chipping I also didn't know much about Paulsons either or what made them so desirable and pricey. To sum it up simply, Paulsons are no longer readily available like they were in the past as GPI (paulsons present parent company) has pulled out of offering chips to the home market. Aside from that, many chips are limited in production, have different colors and edgespots that appeal to different people, have historical or personal meaning to people, etc. Rarity is something that usually drives up the price of a chip as well.

Why are they so great? They are used in many actual casinos making them "real" casino chips. THC (top hat and cane) have indistinguishable feel/sound and are generally considered the top end chip you can get in the world. I'm sure this doesn't cover everything but I hope it helps

@Suz, please define what you mean by 'Paulson Top Hat & Cane". Depending on whether you are referring to a) all chips made on the th&c mold in general, or b) a specific chip set made by Paulson by that name for the home market (not using the th&c mold, incidentally), the answer to your question is very different. Two dramatically different questions, each legitimate but having very different answers.
