I realize this likely sounds silly to some, but how many people are content or satisfied with the current state of their collection? I've been collecting for a long time now, and don't really see too much out their that makes me salivate like some of the stuff did back in the day. I have bought and sold so many sets that I can't recall everything that I've owned over the years. I'm not sure if it's because chips are so expensive now, or if it's related to how the boat buys ended, if it's because I just don't see anything out there that I like more than what I have, or that I'm just getting older and am just not so gun-ho about it anymore.

I have some project sets that I am either going to finish or sell (so I'm not done by any means) but other than that my collection has been pretty much the same for a year or two now... but just thought it was curious where I'm at these days and was wondering if anyone was in a similar place with their collection?

Just for reference, this is what I'm working with. Not pictured is one project set that is only about half done.

I am real new to the hobby and I have got the bug pretty bad but I feel there will be a limit to what I can get away with from a domestic standpoint. I'm also a bit older, with a growing little 3 yr old boy, this chipping is hell expensive.

I guess everything I see makes me salivate. I'm especially taken with Jack chips.

I've been at this for 2 solid months. I've got 1 completed CPC Tournament set. 1 complete Paulsons Classics Cash set.

Then there are 2 other sets I'm working on, one of which is Jacks. My wife has said, any future chipping will mean unloading a set to fund another.

I actually don't even know what I'm going to do with 500 more in the mail. I have no where to put the racks. Under my table I guess... :ROFLMAO:

I can't say I'm satisfied to answer the question. But then it's only been a short time...and I intend to play poker to the end

There needs to be a third option, "almost done" lol.

I've also gone through a lot of sets over the years, and there really isn't much out there at this point that has me salivating. I have one set that I'd still like to get my hands on (SDPM tourney) but beyond that I don't know if I'll be buying much for a while. This is also compounded by getting close to being a father for the first time, so money and time will be directed elsewhere for awhile.

One thing I've realized lately is that the chips I have are awesome and that chasing endlessly after other sets is not only tiring, it just doesn't bring me joy. I guess that means I'm happy with what I have and I'm ok with not having some of the other great sets out there. The price of chips has also gotten to the point where I no longer can compete with some of the rich folks here, so I'll live vicariously through their photos:).

Never say never, but I’m fairly content with my collection. Save adding chips of certain denoms to certain of my sets, I’m not too inclined to get more. Hell, I might even thin down the herd. That said, if a vintage TRK set were to grab my fancy, I might be tempted.

Although the one hole in my collection is a custom CPC set. I may plug that hole at some point.

I’ve actually reached the point where I’m completely satisfied with my sets and there are no chips I’m looking for for the first time ever. I’m not sure what to do with myself haha, but if I come across
Anything else I want I’m going to make myself sell a set to acquire it. I’ll clarify that my sets aren’t complete, as I have a lot of milling and labeling to do, but I possess all the chips necessary for this. I’ll add pics later.

I'm pretty satisfied with what I have right now. There are a few chips I'd like to add on to a set or two, but I dont see adding any more sets for quite some time.

I will add more sets if I can find them online somewhere for a great price, but most of the sets that I like I would never pay current market price for.

I hear what you’re saying...

I’ve bought and sold a lot of chips over the years, and after 4 years since I’ve been involved in this hobby and a member here at PCF, I’ve managed to pull together 4 sets I’m very happy with including a CPC set inspired by Lakeshore Inn and 3 other Paulson sets featuring my absolute favorite chips (PCA, Le Cove, Aztar, Casablanca, etc...). I’ve spent the last 6 months or so trying to reach absolute chipping karma. Maybe there isn’t such a thing. I don’t know. But I’ve just been trying to finish off and finalize my 4 sets. I don’t see myself starting a 5th set. Funds are low, I have too much invested in this already, and I’m truly happy/satisfied with what I have. Yet I have a current wanted ad out there and thoughts of another CPC set. Ugh. So is chipping. It’s a disease and/or an addiction. Conflicted at best. Never satisfied.

Honestly, I'm pretty good at the moment. I sold some stuff in the last year that was expendable or could only be used for niche limits/games so I don't have that "excess" feeling even with about 15k chips....

On the other side I'm still buying Bellagio chips because that's a set I always wanted. I also picked up an unexpected Tunica set because they were mint THC Paulsons. Other than that I've had no interest in buying anything to sit on a shelf as I haven't hosted any games in the last year.

Anytime you want to stop hunting the Bellagio chips would be nice. I stopped looking as you've driven the prices far too high.

I am perfectly contented. I like my sets and they have plenty of utility. I can spread any kind/size of cash game that I could ever want. Limit, no limit whatever. My main tourney set can spread 50 people. I guess I could add a rack of $25,000 in my tourney set, but that would require I figure out colors for the chip, and that doesn't appeal to me all that much.

I worked on another custom cash set, finished it and then couldn't get excited enough about it to spend the money to have it made.

Yeah I'm definitely paying more per chip than I'd like and occasionally getting a bargain on them, but yeah I like them so I'm taking all the chips I can get.

Content? Yes.

Done? Likely not.

I've got ideas for custom sets for days, and will be sending payment for another one this week, and will likely have at least one more custom set made in the next year or two. BUT - if I weren't to obtain any more sets other than the ones I currently own/have paid for right now, I'd be perfectly fine.

Singles, though...I'm always hunting for those :)

I still have a few side projects but overall I'm very content with my sets, especially after getting my customs.

For a long time I was
Buy, Buy, Sell, Buy, Buy, Sell,..... but these days I'm pretty happy with my 9 small sets of 5300 chips....I mean 5400 chips.
I almost forgot about the rack I just bought.
I doubt I'll buy another new set for a while, but I might be off-loading one or 2 sets before the end of the year.

I don’t have any idea how many chips I have, but I know I’m not in the upper levels of chip ownership here. I know I have way too many and I know I was acquiring chips so fast that after I got them I packed them away and got excited to acquire new ones. Then last December I had a moment of clarity and said wtf am I doing buying more chips when there is so much more I can do with my money. I am about 6.5 months now into my no chip buying journey. It ain’t always easy and I did sort of cheat a little but I still think about snap buying and remember my promise to myself.

I do not want what I have not got!

New chipper here, bout two to three months in now. My wallet says I’m happy with the sets I have, some cash some tourney, some cc some BJ some pretty used Paulson.

That being said as a new guy I’m still in need of cut cards, custom samples to inspire whatever I eventually do, dice, racks, etc. It’s Sunday and we don’t get mail. My hands are shaking.

Getting close to satisfied. Need to complete my THC solids millng/labeling project, and fill out my PCR cash set.

Then I’ll be satisfied...

... for about a month or two. Then I’m sure the addiction will kick back in.
