Casino Royale (Movie replicas) reviews/comments? (1 Viewer)

I’m considering purchasing a casino Royale chip set for tournaments and have been looking everywhere for reviews but can’t seem to find any. If anyone has information about them I’d appreciate it. Mainly I want to know about the quality control (edges, inlays, weight consistency) and overall experience of the chips. Thanks for the feedback

If you are talking about the chips made from the production design ones found in the James Bond Casino Royale (2006) movie, they were all made under license by Cartamundi. @Apache (look in the Vendor section) has them as stock items, I believe around 0.16 per chip in rolls of 25 per denom. They are 14g (heavy) slugged plastic chips, very durable. They do not have inlays. Quality control is typically very good for an injection mold process. They do not sound or feel like any professional casino chip. Replica plaques are also available, one of the first was an unlicensed Matsui version (the "E" in "Royale" was missing) in 500K and 1M denoms, while a newer version by a different company was available in 3 denoms.

We love our casino royale sets both China clays and the ones from apache!!!!! Granted they are not Paulsons but they are still a fun set to build!

For less expensive injection molded chips they are one of the better designs. You can find sets available on eBay or amazon sometimes but probably not in the denominations you want.

They are slugs but they have lots of denoms which is nice and its not such a big deal if they get lost stolen or damaged in play....granted dont really want that to happen but sometimes things happen during games

I contemplated putting together a set that would allow me to replicate the tournament scenes in the movie. 10-handed, 10 million in chips and plaques per player, starting with 5K/10K blinds. The chip portion would be dirt cheap, while the plaque portion would be ridiculously cost prohibitive, especially considering all the extra plaques needed for rebuys.

We do have a lot and started out with the newer series that Apache sells, which are fantastic chips for what they are, excellent feel and consistency... They sell a sample set which is always the smart way to start... Like many others I at least like a barrel to get the feel. I wasn't happy with the denominations so @FordPickup92 found a listing for a bunch of the older 10,000s we were just going to get those but then found more and more so we mostly have the older style... That cost us way more than .16 per chip but better denominations, between the 2 the newer version is a much better chip. We are now over 8,000 chips (this picture is around 2000) including 200 and 2000 denominations, I like everyone starting with huge stacks of chips and stopping every 5 rounds of blinds to chip up. To each is own I guess. But we now almost have enough chips and plaques to play a 1,000,000 tourney with 20 people and rebuys/add ons. Ours stop at 10,000 then we have the pink T25,000 and T100,000 new style and hoping to see if gear can relabel some of the other colors and make larger denomination chips... It's a work in progress... Oh and how we both found our way here, of course now we are both obsessed with collecting Paulsons and that set has been back burner for a little bit now. In conclusion if you want a cheap set with a great feel I don't think you will be disappointed! I do wish I he 100,000 plaques were 250,000 instead but a relatively inexpensive way to get plaques into your home tourney!!

My only issue with those chips as a tourney set is the 25 and 500 look like they could really have some dirty stack issues. I’d probably buy the pink 25K chip and switch the labels.

I have a sample set. QC seems good although I only have 10 chips. They are not close to casino feel since they're heavy and slippery. I almost like the weight and feel of chalky dice chips more. The 25 chip is a very blueish green and it bothers me a lot. Somebody else mentioned the 25 and 500 chips are too similar in color and I agree. I think the 5,000 chip is also too similar in color. Splashed pots might get confusing. I really like denominated chips and the price point for these so I still might but them but only for a cash game with 0.25, 1, 5, 100 denominations.

Thanks for the input guys, looking at the color scheme more carefully , it does seem like the colors for the 25,500 and 5000 are too similar and they will be integral for my set. I’m going to pass on the casino Royales for now
