I just got my hands on my first boat chips and surprised to find they don’t fit in official Paulson racks! The racks are the 24010’s and I can only fit 19 chips in a barrel; it’s only a hair short of squeezing 20. Anyone else run into this?

Tried that. Feels like I would damage the outer chips forcing it in...

A lot of the Star chips just barely fit in Paulson racks, not just the $1 chips. Some don’t quite fit. Doesn’t take much time in play to change that, just a tiny bit of use/shuffling helps quite a bit.

Youtube is your friend. (I didn't look, but I'd have to guess there are many videos on how to shuffle chips.)

Often, different mint/new Paulson chips won't initially fit in factory Paulson racks, depending on the dimensions of the specific chips and/or racks (while both may still be within acceptable tolerances). A few sessions of play is generally enough to correct the problem.

I have at least four different Star chip denominations where this was an issue at first. Sometimes swapping out a different rack helped; sometimes not.

Align the entire barrel as best as you can and put 19 aligned chips in the rack, then add the 20th chip to the middle of the barrel (i.e., not to the end). Then you will have chip-on-chip contact, instead of chip-on-plastic. Much safer and it's the best way to get them to fit until the first couple hours of wear take off the "sharp edges".

Good info. Thanks

Relative temperature (and humidity) are also factors. Both chips and trays expand when warmer, and contract when colder (or drier). Putting cool chips into warm racks is easiest, but you may have problems getting them out later.

Most of the Star chips I’ve had have been a real tight fit. I could get every barrel into the 24010 racks, but a few times it felt like it might not work. I figure it’s just a real sure sign that they are mint:)

100% of my star chips fit in Paulson racks. 100% of all my mint chips fit in Paulson racks. Practice makes perfect.

The down side of minty chips. Stack them perfectly... squeeze tightly at the ends, and a barrel will juuuust sneak into the rack.
