Were the CDI plaques made specifically for the 2005 Paulsons? Are there any markings or text that would make them visually incompatible with a CDI98 set?

Not too sure if anyone answered you, but no I don’t think they were. They would match the 98 set or the 2005 set very well IMO.

You can play with all the CDI versions (there are also BCC set) it's the same logo design, I think the plaques were made for the 2005 set with the other ceramic plaques like the NPS with the same style.

By the way it seems that in the movie " Licence to kill " (1989) the chip design come from the " Republic of Isthmus " (a banana republic of fiction based on central america certainly inspired by Panama) flag and arm (look like Panama arms) and the real logo design on the chip is red not green, these are the chips made for the film by Paulson (or there have been other set with other colors but never seen them).
