Just finished a bottle of Evan Williams Black Label, and thought I’d give Colville a shot. They both get mixed reviews, but they taste pretty good good to me with some sugar, bitters, and a little orange.

What’s your favorite bargain whiskey?

Old Overholt and Rittenhouse Rye, both bottled in bond, are phenomenal values. Almost as good a value as Oban at $30 (but that’s a whisky and not a whiskey).

I would take the Evan Williams black bottle as my favorite entry level Bourbon, if mixing with soda, much better value than Jack black label or Beam white label. At the next price point of around $20, I like the Jim Beam black label. Will have to try the Old Overholt and Rittenhouse Rye.

Evan Williams, great value for mixers and after one or two it's even OK on the rocks, I always have a handle or two on hand.

Does Red Lable qualify? It's my go to on the rocks whiskey.

Not sure on your definition of cheap but for me Bulleit Rye and Jameson are the cheapest things I stock.

Makers 46 is about the only "bargain" whiskey I buy. If I want bargain drinks, I stick to rum and gin.

"Cheap" is relative to whoever is drinking it.

My standard every day drinking bourbon is in the 25-30 dollar range. That's my middle shelf drinking. Might be cheap to some, expensive to others. I picked up a 25 dollar bottle of Old Forrester 100 proof (I think that is what it is called). I thought it was very good.

I will drop more on a bottle if I can find a cask strength that I enjoy. Those can be tough to come by.

Old charter is about as cheap as I'll go anymore. It's actually tolerable with water. I mainly have it around so guys won't mix my Elijah with pop, though

It’s good to have inlaws in Britain. This 17 quid NAS Islay from the supermarket chain Aldi won a gold medal at the world whisky awards. @ChaosRock, I’ll save you a dram. Pictured in my brother in law’s shopping trolley at the supermarket.

When I get low and haven’t had a chance to stock up at the PX I will get some of this. At $18.50 or so per bottle it’s about as cheap as it gets around here for something that isn’t rock gut. It drinks easy, very smooth. The guys all enjoy it and have started buying it too.

I’ll have to see if I can track some of this down. I’m not a fan of the Colville bourbon—too syrupy sweet. Went back to the Evan Williams Black Label.

Actually the in the US it is spelled Whiskey for Bourbon and in Scotland they spell it Whisky. Since Most of the poster here are drinking bourbon I spelled it Whiskey.

Just found out my local Target has Bulleit 6yr Bourbon and Bulleit Rye for $26.99/bottle all the time. That's good news.
