So as part of another thread, @BGinGA said:
So rather than hijack that thread, I thought I'd put my calculations here for corrections and comments. This would be very much for recreational F&F use and so I understand the concerns and assume the risks of mixing a tourney and cash set.
For the T5 tournament side:
Starting blinds of 5/10
Starting stacks 200BB=T2000
10 x T5
10 x T25
7 x T100
2 x T500
So absolute minimum tourney set for single-table 10 would be:
100 x T5
100 x T25
75 x T100
25 x T500
5 x T2000
305 total chips
Or for a two-table 16 the set would be:
160 x T5
160 x T25
120 x T100
40 x T500
10 x T2000
490 total chips
For the micro cash side:
Blinds of 5c/10c
Buy-in 100BB=$10.00 or 200BB=$20.00
10 x 5c
14 x 25c
6 x $1
(2 x $5 for 200BB)
I'm a little fuzzier on what type of cash set this translates to. For the cash game, I'd expect 1 table of 8-10 players. So assuming that half the players will rebuy once that gives minimum bank needed of (10*$20+5*$20) $300.
So the cash set (rounding'ish to sleeves instead of barrels) might look like:
100 x 5c
150 x 25c
150 x $1
25 x $5
5 x $20
430 total chips
$417.50 total bank
For the T5/Micro Cash Combo Set
Smushing the cash and tourney sets together into one combo set gives:
For cash + 10 person tourney
100 x 5
150 x 25
150 x 100
25 x 500
5 x 2000
430 total chips
For cash + 16 person tourney
160 x 5
160 x 25
150 x 100
40 x 500
10 x 2000
520 total chips
How'd I do? Any changes, suggestions, corrections?
One of the most innovative solutions I've seen uses 5, 25, 100, 500, and 2000 denominations. They double as tournament chips (T5 through T2000) and as cash chips (5c through $20.00).
