Sorry if this is a dum question, I'm going to vegas, and I'd like to harvest some Wynn $1( because blue is my fav color, also maybe some aria $1, also open to suggestions). If I were to pick and choose how do I tell if a chip is better than the other? Is there a feel difference or just condition?

Thank all

Feel the edges of the chip, ones in good condition will feel sharp, poor condition ones will feel rounded. The chip itself too will have more texture if it’s in better condition, more used ones will be smoother. Also counterintuitively, sometimes very good condition chips will have more dirt and grime on them than ones in poorer condition, so don’t write off dirty chips.

Take a look at pictures of mint chips. When mint Paulsons are stacked, they appear seemless - if not for the edge spots, you’d have a hard time telling where one chip ends and the next begins.
As mentioned above, you can feel for condition by the sharpness of the edges. Another clue are the lathe-marks, which appear as multiple parallel horizontal lines on the rolling edges of the chips. If you see those, the chip is probably in good shape.

Sounds good all, I'll defintly look for sharp edges with my eyes and hands :). Hopefully I can harvest a few mint ones.

You just want a few? Go to the chip cage at a time when it's not busy, and ask the counter person for a few in the very best condition, as you'd like them as a souvenir.
Tip accordingly ;)

sounds good, I mean I would like a nice rack but beggers can't be choosers

The last time I went to the cage to harvest chips, it wasn’t busy, and I told the nice woman working there exactly what I was looking for: a rack of $1’s in the best condition they had. I said that I was a collector, and that these would be going into a home game set.

Not only did she help me pick out the best 100 chips they had, her boss came around and joined in. I tipped very well.
