Scarney is best played preflop. Those that play every hand are what I call "donors".

Agreed. Maybe that's why everyone is saying Bomb Pot Scarney is the only way to play it. Couldn't disagree more with that but, hey, I'll still play it... Don't see the point in eliminating a decision point of the game...

My crew has been a strict NLH crew forever. Bomb pots have been a good way to introduce them to new games outside their comfort zone over the last year.

Though the biggest leap forward came from many of them attending my meetup this year when we ended up with three tables of circus games on the last night. :)

Still, lots of them are hesitant to play anything other than NLH, but bomb pots seems to help break down down reluctance. It’s a process!

I totally get it, Conor... Many reasons to go for Bomb Pots, that's for sure, some savory, some not as savory. Same can be said for very, very off-the-cuff circus games... I was just speaking from a 'better game' perspective, which is not.

Agreed completely. All games are better if played from the start.

That said, bomb pots sure do spice things up a bit, which can be desirable too, depending on the group.

I’m pretty open to all sorts of variations and games though. Variety is the spice of life and poker!

I'll do it (play with antes), but when I do, I seem to get those trash Q J 9 8 6 non suited hands way more often than normal!

Isn’t that a premium? Only need a T to a straight! :ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Worst hand in Scarney, and yet, you had to put in one or two redbirds in the middle, lol!

I guess the flop could be QQQ, for maybe half the pot…

I've actually been looking for a strategy guide for Scarney, and circus games in general. If someone has something they can recommend, I'd be grateful!

I've never played forced bomb pot circus until recently.

$.25/.50 nlh until end of night circus $1 bombpots.

I enjoy circus over holdem by a factor of 10-20ish, yet those nights I'd prefer to just finish out hold em instead of the $1 bomb pots. It is a completely different game than standard circus and (personally) I believe favors nut peddlers to an insane degree.
