Looking at getting a new tourney set and trying to decide between a brpoker tiki kings set or a China clay copies of the empress star tournament set through the monthly group buy. Price is similar but curious if anyone has experience with both and has a preference.

I have the majestic China clays and like them but always liked the look of ceramics

To be clear...it sounds like you are talking about Tina group buys for the second option. If true, those are also ceramic chips (I'm assuming more or less same ingredients in the chips).

The difference in the two are:

BR Pro: Flat chip with a fine, sand paper like, texture. More premium in finish and overall quality.

Tina Group buy: More options in shape and 'mold'. Chips can be flat, like above, but most are in the shape of molds that have a criss-cross hatch-like texture. Generally lesser in quality, but that is reflected in the cost of the chips being 50% less than the BR Pro's. They'll also take a lot longer to arrive via mail, months vs weeks for BR Pro's.

Great to know! Appreciate the info

@Apache Poker Chips is also worth considering - I have really enjoyed my Pharoahs set and that’s where I first started in my chip journey. They ship fast and sand all the little injection nubs off the sides of the chips. If you want to go mega-cheap to see how you like hosting a tourney, their casino royale chips are good quality and only .25/chip. Plus, all my non-poker family that checked out my sample set thought they were they were the best feeling.

Love Apache and def still considering them for the next set. Not sure if I would stick with the Majestics or branch out for the tourney set.

I just sold some majestics and they felt great. The chips + the texture of the label was very enjoyable to play with.

I personally couldn't get past the muted color schemes of most china clays; I wanted something that would be visually strong and a real conversation starter. My first set was the Dunes of Arrakis web mold from the group buy, and they are just that. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. It was nice to have the flexibility of using any chips with labels - I almost pulled the trigger on a few mix and matches before choosing Arrakis.

You seem to be on the same trajectory as me. I started with dice chips, then Majestics, and now use Tiki Kings. BR Pro are much better than China clays. I think my last stop will be some CPC Rounders if I decide to take another jump.
