$1.25? Not a bad price...
Just to clarify before someone thinks they found the deal of the century — the asking price is one thousand two hundred and fifty US dollars ($1250), not one dollar and twenty-five cents. But I appreciate the optimism 😉

Damn dewey decimal system

have these been sitting in hot car? edges look like they're concave like they were compressed or warped which i dont think was an issue with samurais...at least not any that i have owned.
Samurai’s are one of the few chips on here that I’ve seen suffer from this. There were some fracs for sale maybe last year that had the same thing going on.

I know there some spinners. I’ve owned several thousand over the years and never seen them like this. Just wondering

You see this with some BCC chips, I had a few with my old In-Plays.

Has something to do with overheating (the concave edges), when created or some such thing.

Alright, I’ll jump in myself here for a second.
To be honest, this criticism comes as quite a surprise to me, as I never expected these chips to raise concerns like this. If I had any bad intentions, I obviously would have photographed them from completely different angles.

As I mentioned before, I haven’t owned countless sets like many of the veterans here, so I’m probably not the best person to judge whether this is considered normal or not.

To me, the chips still look exactly like when I first received them. Sure, they could probably use a little oiling again, and a few chips show light signs of wear, but that’s about it. They were never transported around, always stored indoors, feel great in hand, and function exactly as they did from day one.

So now I’d honestly like to ask the experienced people here: what would you consider a realistic market value for the set in this condition?

Your transparency is to be commended.

Unfortunately, the chips appear to be heat-damaged as has been previously noted in this thread. There are many Samurai Palace sets out there that do not exhibit concave edges, and since so many chips appear to be affected here, it will reduce the value of this specific set.

I would think a price in the range of $1.25-$2.00 per chip would be fair for BCCs in this condition. I think $550-$800ish is pretty fair as an entry level set for someone who knows they'd be getting a sub-optimal product.

You could always try an auction and see where the final bid lands, but you might be disappointed with the result.

Okay, thank you for your feedback, I’ll adjust the listing accordingly.

I would still like to point out that these are definitely not “bad” chips. To me, they feel almost indestructible. A friend of mine owns China Clays from the same period that are literally starting to crumble, while these BCCs still look almost brand new overall.

And honestly, as a layperson, I would never even have considered the edges to be something worth complaining about. It never stood out to me personally as a “defect” or issue.

But it is what it is. I’ll think things over and probably repost the set. Thanks again for the honest input!

I’m skeptical and think this is more likely:

Again, this was done from a manufacturing issue in my experience, not a post purchase behavior. Not saying it can't happen, but BCC is known for this

I’ve owned BCC chips like these and they’re were not warped. The concave edges were just an aesthetic thing.

The above chips represent the worst of the lot of over one thousand chips. BCC had terrible quality control that also would affect color.

When they got it right though, they are some of the best chips around.

Final Price Drop.

Based on the feedback received regarding the chip edges, I have adjusted my asking price accordingly.

Final asking price: $660,- plus shipping.

If there is no interest at this price, I will simply keep the set.
