Tourney Final Table Talk (2 Viewers)

So I made it to my final table in my poker league quick run down

so we play for 8 months 1 time per month for 8 months start in Oct end in May

we have 24 players we start with 3 tables of 8 then go to two tables of 10 once 4 people bust then go to a final table once there are 10 people left

we play for $40 a month each so $320 for the 8 months total

we pay that $320 upfront by Nov and then another $250 in Jan for the Final Table

so there is $6,000 in the final table money
it is point based so every month if you are first out you get 1pt if you win you get 25pts

out of the 8 months you are allowed 1 drop so max points you could have at the end of the season is 175 if you won every tourney lowest would be 7pts if you busted first everytime

top 3 point scores at the end of the league gets alil pay out

1st = $500
2nd = $250
3rd = $150

so $900 out of the $6,000 comes out so we are left with $5,100 for the final ten players

we pay every single spot something at the final table

last time we did the first 3 people out got $50 and went on from there

my questions are

what should the payouts be from 1-10th place

and I would say 2-3 of the 10 people play super slow they think we are playing at the WSOP Main for 10k its brutal

Nobody likes to be the guy who calls clock cause some of these people are sensitive sally

so my other question is other than a huge decision for all of your chips how long do you think each play should take to act on normal hands

some of these people will honestly take 1-1.5mins to do something when the blinds are small and its not a huge decision its just a normal one

also we start with 100 chips for every point you got to make it to the final table

we start our blinds at 25-50 and work our way to where it gets capped at 2k - 4k blinds

there will be a total of 124,800 chips in play the top ten starting stacks broke down to the remember most you could get is 175pts if you won every tourney

1st - 153pts - 15,300
2nd - 135pts - 13,500
3rd - 134pts - 13,400
4th - 128pts - 12,800
5th - 125pts - 12,500
6th - 123pts - 12,300
7th - 118pts - 11,800
8th - 118pts - 11,800 - me
9th - 109pts - 10,900
10th - 105pts - 10,500

so yeah main 2 questions would be what should the payouts be for 1-10

and how long should I wait to call clock - I play fast I dont like to waste peoples time and hate when it takes 3-4-5mins a hand so we dont see many hands per blind structure

we use 2 decks not sure if we will be using 1-2 at the final table I would assume we would use two still we always use 2 until we get down to the money in our normal tourneys

1. Payouts, I like top heavy for a final table, end of league feel. You can change it up but below is a first crack at it. I like big top 3 and flat-ish rest of the field, move percents around as much as you want but I don't want to shave too much off the big winner.
1st - 35%
2nd - 18%
3rd - 13%
4th - 8%
5th - 7%
6th - 7%
7th- 3%
8th- 3%
9th-3%
10th-3%

2. No idea, completely depends on your game's culture. Don't wait forever but this is a celebration for your top players as much as a final table, don't be a douchebag.

3. Always use 2 decks or at least have them handy. Makes everything easier.

Very deep stacked start for a final table, cool. Why do blinds get capped?

We have just always capped them at 2-4k no clue why the guy who runs the league this is our17th season I'm in my 5th season

I might suggest next yr not calling blinds or at least get them to stop at 2.5-5k or 3-6k if they still want to cap them

And about the clock situation I think I might just ask the guy who runs the league he's at the final table playing as well might just ask him to say something about it before we start play

Knowing the people I play with they will prob want the top 3 to be heavy

Last time we paid out all 10 spots

The first like 3-4 people only got $50

And again it's not my tournament so when I make suggestions I usually get shot down

I know they will want 1st taking at least 2k

From the time a player is aware/made aware (obv that part alone can be annoying) that the action is on them and assuming the decision is trivial, anything above 10 seconds stands out and would be annoying if constantly repeated.

1-2 minutes of hollywooding? That’s ridiculous. I would try to bring that up with them beforehand and explain why it’s bad. If that didn’t help I’d start calling the clock, sorry Sally

True I like that too they prob wouldn't go for it also isn't fun at the table esp the final table with a dealer 11people at a 84inch table is rough as well

From 4th to 3rd is a $450 pay jump but then 3rd to 2nd is only $250 lol makes no sense

Ok so update we had the final table today it went like this

Total Chips to start

1st - 15,300 finished 7th - $80
2nd - 13,500 finished 1st - $1,700
3rd - 13,400 finished 3rd - $1,125
4th - 12,800 finished 8th - $80
5th - 12,500 finished 10th - $80
6th - 12,300 finished 5th - $250
7th - 11,800 finished 6th - $80
8th - 11,800 - me I finished 2nd - $1,275
9th - 10,900 - finished 9th - $80
10th - 10,500 - finished 4th - $500

We did a chop there was 126k in play after color ups

1st had 54k
I had 40k
3rd had 32k

There was $4,110 left for the 3 places $1,960, $1,200 ,$950

1st took $1,700
I took $1,275
3rd took $1,125

It was something like 1st place took like $60 less I took $40 less and 3rd got $100 extra
The third place guy wanted $1,200 and he wasn't really budging and 1st place wasn't budging off of $1,700 so we gave 3rd $1,125

Just to get it over with 1st wasn't budging off of $1,700

The third place guy wanted $1,200 but that made no sense for me to chop it $1,200 and $1,200 with him so we just finally agreed on $1,275 and $1,125 I wanted to do $1,300 and $1,100 but he wasn't having it so just to get it over with I basically gave up another $25

There was $10 left over
4th and 5th place were dealing for us for maybe an hour and a half so we gave them the extra $10 and we each gave them $20ea so they got $35ea for dealing for that hour and a half both them host the games 4 months at one guy's house 4months at the other guys house so it worked out in the end

I def agree with one poster that we need to figure out payouts before the season starts we need to do better on the way that final table is paid out as well

Thankfully everyone for the most part besides a few hands played fast and no clocks were called
