2026- New Mold Ideas (4 Viewers)

Not to my knowledge, by my measurements were based on photos (using the chip diameter as a reference), so they are certainly approximate. Maybe someone with a pair of calipers can confirm.

What exactly has to be measured? I should have all the equipment needed, I'm just not quite sure what to measure.

My question would be: how wide is the groove in the web mold, sun mold, and Greek mold? Basically, I want to know how long the pink line segment in this image is:

And if you happened to have Horsehead mold or another mold from CPC, it would be interesting to know how wide their grooves are (like the pink segment in this photo):

Sorry, I misunderstood -- I meant the distance from the groove to the edge of the chip. What's the correct term I should use for that? That wider ring around the chip seems to be distinctive to Diamond Square, Horsehead, and Roman molds. Theirs seems wider than on web mold to my eye, which is in turn wider than on sun and Greek. Would people be interested in a similar thicker edge option on Tinas? I think it also looks good on the chip @sethwanab posted:
saw these today and thought they were cool.

Where did you see those? Do you know any details about them?

These would sell well universally. eBay and Amazon for example.

If it wasn't for Tina operating in multiples of 25, you could actually just sell full replacement sets for monopoly as each game has 30 of each denom. I guess you could just do them in batches of 10 by ordering 300 of each denom and creating 10 sets. 210pc sets is a little awkward, but sell them for like $150 as a premium upgrade on Etsy or something and you have a small profit.

A late submission....for the board game nerds (that includes me) ;)

What if instead of a "house mold" that has words on it, like "Poker Room" or "Card Room", there was house mold that has just...houses on it?

It'd be quite boring and inoffensive, but it would symbolize all of the home games people have and cover a lot of bases. If I could create that I would make the house roof and chimney slightly more prominent. It would also work as a Tina equivalent to Paulson THC that would satisfy what @BigGrizz was talking about without just copying THC.

I just tried to measure that with my digital caliper. Note: I'm a tool mechanic and know exactly what a caliper can and can't measure.
Those fine lines definitely belong more to the category of "can't measure with a caliper". However with a good eye and some experience a measurement to compare stuff like that works pretty good.
So I compared a WTHC with a greek and web mold. Unfortunately I don't have any CPC, sorry for that.

I started with measuring the outer ring of the WTHC and thought I went crazy stupid with my results. Until I realized, that the outer ring is in fact not centric. If you look closely, you can see that in the first picture. On the left side, the outer ring is "way smaller" that on the right side. Results were around 0,6mm-1mm! So I settled with 0,8mm (pic 3).
The width of the groove is about 0,4mm (pic 2).
For the Greek Mold, we got an outter ring (perfect centric) of about 0,7mm (pic 4) and a rim of about 0,6mm (pic 5). Just realised I didn't measure the "greek part", but it seems to be a little smaller, maybe 0,4mm.
The Web Mold has a thick outter ring of 1,6mm (pic 6) and a rim of about 0,4mm (pic 7).

What I couldn't measure is the depth of the molds. But I'd say that the mold from the Paulson chip is deeper, which leads to a finer look overall.

Maybe I could get better results with a measuring magnifier, but I'm not sure if we got one laying around at work. Would anyone be interested in that?

Thanks so much, @tetsuya! I am certainly not a machinist so I do not know what can and can't be measured with a set of calipers, so thanks for sharing your expertise.

What I couldn't measure is the depth of the molds. But I'd say that the mold from the Paulson chip is deeper, which leads to a finer look overall.

I also noticed that Paulson molds depths seem deeper than the Tina molds. I was able to measure a RHC mint chip (Paris) depth of the hat to be about 0.27 mm. That's the one spot that's big enough for the depth tool of my caliper. I don't have a mint THC chip, and the Tina web and Tangiers molds wouldn't fit my depth tool but do seem shallower.

Would it make sense to make the new Tina mold slightly deeper? Wouldn't that add to the "grippy" feel and less slippery?

Do all trains and the 18xx crowd will go nuts.
This is actually how I first ended up on PCF. Bought a cube rail that didn’t even come with paper money and had enough games were I didn’t love the paper money so was thinking about chips for board gaming and well….

A board game themed mold would print on others platforms. Salesman @doublebooyah85 knows what he’s about. @justincarothers about to boom

Same. I came to PCF looking for replacements to paper money and cardboard chits.

I guess making the Tina molds deeper would be a big problem. As far as I know, those are printed using sublimation printing. Getting the ink in even more depth molds would result in less print quality.
This is exactly what would worry me. I’ve noticed this in samples with certain colors and mold combos. It’s also why the smooth hybrids look so saturated in color.

When the ink doesn’t print uniformly in color saturation it takes a little away from the illusion of a clay chip. I’d be very happy with a smooth mold that had the texture the CHC’s have. ….and the larger label size

The plain mold larger label size really let's the art pop
