Hey gang does anyone have a good sense of what each WTHC denomination is worth per chip or per rack these days? Most particularly for 1s and 5s? TBC it's not for me to determine a selling price as I currently don't own any šŸ™ƒ just want to make an offer within reason (or also know if it's just better off to pass).

Thanks gang

Seriously, it depends:

$1s- depends on condition and does the color match? $8-$11
$5s - $7-$8
$25 - $6-$8
$100 - $6-$8
$500-does the color match? $5-$7
$1000-$5-$7
$5000-$8-$10
The easiest way to test these prices is to put out a wanted ad (with those prices) and see if you hear anything back. There are a number of WTHC owners here.

Having transacted in a number of WTHC chips lately, I find these prices to be below what current market price is. Market price for the buyer is the price necessary to shake them loose from owners.

Market price is not the high/low end of desperation or demand, it is closer to the mean. You are more than welcome to throw out your transaction data. Just because people don’t want to break up sets to sell pieces off at high offer prices does not establish market price.

Tell me again what price range you have been paying…

That's exactly my point! Because people don't want to break up sets to sell the chips, it will require a higher price to shake them loose from the buyer's perspective.

That ad had the WTHC listed at below market price, hence instant dibs.

What I'm trying to say is, at what price would it require YOU as the owner of WTHC to sell? That's the market price from the buyer's perspective... which is the exercise here.

Here's another data point from the BUYER's perspective. Someone asking for the specific WTHC chips they want to buy:

That makes my point. That is not market price, that is a random high offer, it should be discarded as much as one offering to buy them for $1/chip. I stand by my range as the realistic market value asked for by the OP so long as he is not desperate and has the patience to wait for chips at actual value to be offered.

All good, not trying to pick a fight, lol. :D

My original comment was simply a suggestion for the OP to put those prices out there as a wanted ad and see if people are willing to sell. My personal experience is that for some denoms like 1, 5, 5k, (from the buyer's perspective) people aren't willing to sell at those prices in today's market. YMMV.

Totally understand but there is always an above market premium to be paid for something not currently listed for someone who wants it right now. That is where patience comes in. Would be very happy if my $1s and $5s were consistently valued that high. But once his needs are filled, I don’t see anyone else paying that much for any of them and the market will bring prices back to the mean.

I guess we can test it. I actually am looking for a barrel of the lighter base version of the 5ks. Offering $160 for a barrel. LMK who wants to sell. Grazie!

If people are paying $8 per chip for these unleaded suits mold advertisement chips, I’d suggest potential buyers shop around for something else. There is a whole world of Paulson chips out there; see if something else catches your eye.

Wait, you’re telling us they’re NOT worth $32/chip? :ROFLMAO:

Personally, I think they are overpriced but this is a market-driven hobby

YMMV
100% overpriced. I'd rather purchase a complete Jack Detroit set at $3-6/chip, but to each, their own. If THC is available, Scandia or a cheaper NAGB set.

thanks for the input, PCFers! I'd complain about my thread getting derailed but it was done so entertainingly well

FWIW, I'd put in an offer at $8/per for the 1s and $6/per for the 5s, which seems to be a low but not unreasonable offer based on the responses. Offer was not accepted and countered at quite a bit higher than was listed here as well. ultimately we'll be too far apart

I don't see myself getting too deep into this hobby tbh. For whatever reason, I have never liked hotel named chips whether real or fantasy, which is pretty limiting for options. I do have samurai palaces despite that, and was very happy to get a set of le noirs. WTHC is probably the last set I will get, if I ever get them at all

Then it's money well spent. Fantasy chips like le noirs and WTHC are on the very bottom of my lists. We all like what we like, and that's what we should buy.

Never happening on a wanted ad. But you may pick some up at that price on a seller who isn’t paying attention.

it was based on an older thread (of mine) that was doing an post-sale analysis of an eBay auction... which is why i was asking for current market conditions. like everything else, prices seem to have gone up :bigbucks:

I would say your prices are accurate if a seller is looking to sell but it would take more on a wanted ad. People hold these chips. To get them to move would probably be $10-$12/chip.
