saw these today and thought they were cool.

I am trying to find a designer who can help me set up all the previews for the poll. So far none of my regulars are interested, able or responding. If you are a talented artist and want to help out please reach out to me via PM

Can anyone provide a starter svg file for htis purpose. I'd be willing to play around, making no promises about output.

I love the collaboration here so I started messing around with a few ideas to help with the brainstorming. The house was going to get a chimney and a tweak to the small peak angle but I had already put them around the chip; you get the idea though.

The label area is 24mm to get a little extra real estate without going all the way to 25mm.

Funny you should mention that... I got lost in this rabbit hole and started playing around with the different suits. Why does the spade have to get all the love? 39mm chip, 24mm label. These are a few drafts I threw together quickly so pardon the shapes not being perfectly placed!

Then I really started messing around and ended up with 20 different molds, lol. A few others I made are a bit Broken Arrow centric since they give off a bit of a Native American/Texas vibe. I still dig a cigar/whiskey mold but hopefully these are helping to get the juices flowing if a more neutral themed "house" mold is the answer. Either way, I think the new mold should come in both 39/43mm.

I like this one

We have some great designs, but ya. Nothing is going to best web mold which has become intrenched. I'm on team alternative to jester for a THC spritual successor.

Ok, I've been experimenting a lot today. I'm going to share some mock ups in a few different posts so that it's easier to tell through "likes" which of these designs people are actually interested in (if any).

They are all based on similar pattern: interlocking curves moving around the chip. But by modifying various parameters you get some different effects.

I basically have 4 different categories:
  • Spirograph -- This is the most basic. Grooves are unbroken
  • S Curve -- Same as spirograph, but grooves are broken. Makes it look a bit more "flowy" or weave / rope-like in my opinion.
  • Rope -- Same as S Curve but very tight pattern
  • Roman -- Same as S Curve, but with an additional "horizontal" line going through the center. I've also inverted the cut so that instead of cutting the curve shape into the face of the chip, the area that is cut/depressed is the space around the curves.
A few other notes:
  • All of these chips have a 25mm inlay recess (larger than web mold)
  • Black represents a depression into the face of the chip
  • Usually the groove width is 0.35mm (which I believe is close to the size of the web mold grooves). Roman molds have some 0.70mm wide sections)
  • Remember that surface area = grip. Patterns that are too large take away from the total surface area of each chip that is in contact with its neighbor, which reduces grip. My Roman molds are potentially low on total surface area, but I'm not certain.
  • I'll probably pull some of these in to Chipmatic for full chip renders when I have some more time
Do any existing Tina molds have a groove width of 0.70mm? I've realized I like that look after admiring Diamond Square and Horsehead (and of course Roman) CPCs. I kept wondering why Web and CSQ Rounders replicas looked off to me despite somewhat resembling Roman, and I think it's the groove width. I'd definitely be in for a set with your Roman or Rope mold with the thicker groove width.

Not to my knowledge, by my measurements were based on photos (using the chip diameter as a reference), so they are certainly approximate. Maybe someone with a pair of calipers can confirm.
