14MAY26 Update……….
So a lot has happened in a month. Two days after I went home from this last surgery a quarter size blister appeared on the breast flap. No one seemed concerned except me. A week after my last visit the blister had grown about the size of the palm of my hand. Still no one seemed worried except me. They took a second drain out that day, but my third drain was still not ready to come out. I was told to come back in a week. So I came back in less than a week, because my drain tried to come out on its own and was not ready to. They finish taking the drain out, but did not put me on an antibiotic. My breast flap looked awful, but acted like it was no big deal. Told to come back in a week. I came back in 4 days, because I had a low grade fever and my breast flap and my stomach looked worse. They put me on an antibiotic and told to come back in a week. Well that didn’t happen. 2 days later we were headed home and my husband had to do some evasive maneuvers, because I had to throw up. So here we are on the side of the road ….. as I puke my guts up. We get home and call the Hospital and we decide to be there at 6:00am the next morning. We get to the ER and by this time my stomach looked like a rare steak and my breast flap looked bad. I barely have a fever, but they end up admitting me. So they had to put a new drain in and when they did the CT scan they found a pocket of fluid that was 12 inches X 5 inches…….. yes you read that right 12”X5”! When they put the new drain in they drained off 150cc in less than 5 minutes! All full of infection. They were not sure what kind of infection I had, so after the infectious disease, doctor got involved…….they found out I had strep MMSA. They had me on 5 different antibiotics…….. then if all of this was not enough… my sugar went up and they had to deal with that.
Norman had to leave on Saturday to start a big job, so he left before Mother’s Day and in the middle of all of this craziness. One of My daughters came to visit me on Mother’s Day with her husband and 2 kids (ages 5 months and 7 years) she ask the receptionist how to get to my room. The young lady said the children under 12 could go back. My daughter said it is Mother’s Day and I’m gonna see my mom for a minute and leave (she had driven 2 hours to get there). So the lady UNLOCKED the door and gave her directions to get to my room. About 5-10 minutes go by and my door is opened by not one, but two security officers. They tell me that my daughter had disregarded what the receptionist said. She was like no you unlock the door and gave me directions. The charge nurse said she didn’t like confrontation. I was like heck maybe she needs retrained or maybe you could have come to my room and politely asked them to leave, not sent security first thing to remove a 5 month old. And a 7 year old.
HOT MESS! But memorable.
So here I am posting on the forum, sitting on my couch, with yet another babysitter. But I am home and I am grateful. I go next week for a Plastic Surgery appointment, a drain removal, an endocrinologist visit and an oncology visit. I shall keep you all updated on the craziness!
